first, I haven't been Ireland's biggest supporter but I think he's doing fine so far in this draft. Here's my question.......according to most people on this board, this team is doomed and nowhere near the playoffs. At best I've heard that with an easy schedule we might be able to win 9 games.......going into the draft we had holes at QB,WR,RG,RT,TE,corner, safety and pass rusher(either a DE or LB). That's 8 positions.....we have drafted a total of 4 players right now so I ask, how do you fill 8 spots with 4 picks? I was hoping for a WR too last night but let's face it, it we had taken one instead of say the DE, people would be saying we'll have no pass rush.....if we had taken a WR instead of Martin then they'd say our o-line is messed up......of course my point is that we had too many holes and only so many picks........we have the 103rd pick and you might get disapointed again cause we might take a corner or a DT at that point. I'm still hoping for a WR but we had many holes and offence needed some love and we took 3 guys there already. We'll see what happens today.

Ozzy rules!!

I don't think we take a DT. We have Soliai and i would bet Starks and Odrick are going to play inside as well. I can see us going with another DE, possibly corner or safety. Also we might take a WR later in the draft.

I have always thought that we are "doomed" rather because we have a business owner who is more concerned with the overall package (i.e. stupid night clubs, celeb owners, etc) rather than just the product on the field. Hopefully we start to hear less of about dumb gimicky stadium songs, celeb owners and night clubs and get a more polished product on the field. Jerry Jones aside, the phins are the only team I can think of that when I think about the state of the franchise all I can think about are the accessory pieces of the organization listed above instead of the football team itself.

As far as the draft goes, one can be happy because we are heading in a different direction. That alone gives me optimism.

seems to me more like the front office prefers gates then all these wr's let's face it hill probably wasnt going to do much or if anything at all with the offense he comes from in college.

i look for us to add some secondary , if possible a project as a pass rusher and more depth at lb and special teams

The WR value is back in round 4. Jones, Givens, Criner and McNutt are all still available. I'm betting this is the round Ireland seeks value for a WR.

Go to the NFL.com draft page and look at the prospects still available. Heck I like Tannehills A&M target Jeff Fuller, 6'4" and runs a 4.5 40 with lots of positives. I'd be onboard with him.

I do like this kid Givens and he's still there but we might not take a WR at all......think about it, most fans here feel we need a number 1 but can we get a number one in round 4?.....ok, it can happen, sure. But chances are we'd be drafting more of what we have. Maybe Philbin sees something in Gates, or Wallace for what he wants to do and the passing game will revolve around the TE's first and Bush catching more passes? I wish I had the answer but I don't. Still, we had many holes and I believe we've filled some of it. Sorry we haven't fill 8 holes with 4 picks.

I think Fuller is a sleeper, because he played at A&M in the WCO. He's been hurt alot over the last 2 seasons, but was once thought to be a high draft pick.

Fuller is ok dont know if he fits this offense, as far as the green bay type WRs goes. Givens and mcnutt might be ok and fuller might be too just want to see us get someone that might contribute at WR

I'm wondering if they think Nannee has upside in the WCO. perhaps they feel comfortable, we shall see.

Fuller is too inconsistent. If he could only catch the ball consistently he could be a force because he has great size and runs good routes, but too many damn drops. I personally hope we land Juron Criner, he's getting burned because of his 40 time, but he's perfectly suited for the WCO; big body (6'3), runs good routes, good hands.

This team isn't going to be fixed in 1 season (and off-season) because, regardless of the homer optimism, there isn't enough talent on the team. Easy schedule or not (itself a laugable concept considering the fact that all of our opponents think we're a gimme for them), this team will once again bounce between 6 and 8 wins and no playoffs. Hopefully they'll draft well again next year and then we can start to make some noise.

I think they're actually doing a good job of filling positions of need while still getting value.

Easy schedule?
