I keep hearing all this talk about firing Gase and blow up the roster and start over. And the same people complaining are the same ones who complain we have no consistency. We just hired a coach and already people want him fired. Say we hire another coach and under performs just like Gase, you want to fire him after 5 games? C'mon guys. I get it, Im upset and frustrated too but we need to give these guys a chance and time.

I get the concept of being consistent. But what happens when the team is not performing? Would you stick with the coach then for another 5 years to maintain consistency? I'm a big fan when it comes to having a coach for a long time. Lets say Gase has been here for 4 years and still no playoffs. If you look at Marvin Lewis first years he took Bengals to playoffs he took them 2 out of 8 years. I can ALMOST GUARANTEE all Dolphins fans will complain about this and already ask for the coaches head. Consistency? yeah we want it? But are you willing to wait for it? By the looks of people here I'd say no.

Just my thoughts..

Firing an NFL coach after one season usually ends up working out

2012 Jacksonville Jaguars: Mike Mularkey (2-14)
2013 Jacksonville Jaguars: Gus Bradley (4-12)

2009 Seattle Seahawks: Jim Mora Jr. (5-11)
2010 Seattle Seahawks: Pete Carroll (7-9)

2007 Miami Dolphins: Cam Cameron (1-15)
2008 Miami Dolphins: Tony Sparano (11-5)

1999 Green Bay Packers: Ray Rhodes (8-8)
2000 Green Bay Packers: Mike Sherman (9-7)

1997 Oakland Raiders: Joe Bugel (4-12)
1998 Oakland Raiders: Jon Gruden (8-8)

So moral of the story...Cincy should have fired Marvin Lewis a long time ago and then maybe they'd have won a playoff game.

exactly Bill Cohwer consistency lost in the playoff if there was message boards in the 90's people would be calling him a choker but the don't fire coaches not even when he won 7 and 6 games in 98-99 season. Eventually it paid off and they won a Super Bowl in 2005. Same thing for Tony Dungy he was called a choker until he finally won his 11th year of coaching. If we keep firing people because they don't win right away no good coach is ever going to want to come here and were going to be always rebuilding like we have been the last 15 years.

Unwise to expect these "trends" to play out with any consistency. It's a case by case scenario.

I'm happy to ride out with Gase, and I actually like him. Granted, it's more of an intangible, personality, or just overall intuition thing. I don't have an understanding of the game as deep as CB does, but then again if I see 10 more weeks of play like this, I'll be fine with firing the entire Dolphins franchise and literally starting with a new expansion team.

Straight up. It's horrendous to watch, and if it continues on this level, there undoubtedly has to be blame on the HC....

Didn't Dungy take a franchise that had never known winning to 4 straight NFC title games or something like that? Tampa Bay may have gotten a super bowl with Jon Gruden coaching Dungy's players but Tampa Bay made a stupid move there.

All of the coaches you guys are mentioning had one thing in common...their teams looked prepared on Sunday. Even when they lost they looked like they knew what they were doing. It doesn't look like our team has a clue on Sunday. Just saying.

I was indifferent when we hired Gase and I really don't care if they fire him after the season or not but this team looks lost on Sunday. It's like every week we're surprised the opposing team is going to run the ball and come after the QB with just 4 pass rushers...and do it successfully. It's like we had no idea how to pass block and run block and the best thing we can come up with to counter are bubble screens behind the LOS.

I'm not calling for Gase's head right now, but this is a bad argument.

In management, the best solution to bad fits is to keep firing until you find the good fit.

Pittsburgh is THE model franchise. The Dolphins are not even on the same page . . chapter . . . or book for that matter. At one time they were; a long long time ago. Not even remotely close anymore and they don't have football minds in the FO to recapture that.

Maybe in Tampa, but Dungy never won less than 10 games in his 7 year tenure in Indy and had a .759 winning percentage. Again, that doesn't even come close to comparing the situation down here in Miami. Unless, of course, Gase leads the Dolphins on 9-1 tear through out the rest of the season, then your case will be reviewed.

In my opinion it is very difficult to judge this coaching staff with the level of talent we currently have taking the field for us. On any given Sunday it seems to me that we are suiting up 5-7 players that have no business being anything other then 3rd string/special teams players. Tony Lippet has no business starting at cb for any NFL franchise. Neville Hewitte and Spencer Paysinger have no business hitting the field except on Special teams or dire emergencies. Maxwell, Dallas Thomas, Billy Turner etc. If it were one person on the field at any given time you could perhaps scheme to hide them; however, how can you possibly scheme to mask them all? When you keep letting young productive players walk out the door how can you ever catch up to filling the voids in your roster? I don't give a crap if we win another game this season as long as these sorry ass players that have secured roster spots on our team over the last few years are gone. Its time to finally blow this **** show up and build from the ground up. Through the draft with youth.

Which of our past coaches should we have kept?

With essentially the same roster wouldn't you expect to see some improvement in some area? It seems that have regressed across the board so farR. It is way premature to call for Gase's head but I haven't been impressed with what he has done.

Let the season play out and evaluate everyone, yes that includes Gase, at the end of the season.

If we continue to play like a team that is unprepared and unmotivated, you absolutely need to evaluate Adam Gase and his coaches.

I'm rooting for Gase to get this fixed, but so far he hasn't shown me anything to indicate that we should keep him beyond 2016. Now, the season is relatively young, so I'm willing to wait till the end of the year to see how we finish.

Yet, Average Joe Philbin managed 8 win seasons with similar issues.

What gives?

Gase is a fraud.

So, which of the coaches below do you think we shouldn't have fired?:

Dave Wannstead
Cam Cameron
Tony Sparano
Joe Philbin

Did any of these guys deserve more time?

Wanny had 5 years where I believe he was over .500, problem with Dave(even with Bears) is when he found something that worked for a season, he beat it to the ground and his records following good years reflected that. He wasn't great but he wasn't god awful, it's hard to swallow saying Wanny has been our best coach in over a decade. Near the end he was running the team and players into the ground so he had enough time.

Cam... to this day I have no clue what made people in charge do that hire, no clue why people bought into it. Only thing I can say is if he had more time, maybe would have had more top picks via awful records and done something with them and avoided this route of FA spending sprees but I doubt it.

Tony was a fist pumping, excited toddler that got a job he had no business being offered but since Tuna said so, we got him. For all his fist pumps, happy to kick FGs, etc.. moments, he was willing to try whatever(aside from not kicking FG on 4th down) to will the team to wins. He's great as a OL coach that whole purpose is directly focusing on the line, can't fault him for taking a HC job and money rather he deserved it/was ready or not.

Joe I actually bought into hook line and sinker, had high hopes. After the first year chalked it up to jitters and still adjusting to the aftermath of his son, hell I rode that anti gum wrapper, confused baffled looking expression horse to the very end where it became clear he didn't have the level of a HC to effect his team on & off the field. He was here a year too long, didn't need more time to see his scheme/idea wasn't going to fit but give him credit for doing what he did with the pile of crap Ireland served him up.

Know who is to blame for all this? Those people back in the day that shouted, pushed, shoved and ranted for Shula to be gone and they got what they wanted. After what he did, you let the man go when he wants, I don't care if we would have suffered 2-4 awful years as he faded away out of the spotlight and helped find a replacement(he would have, type of person he was/is to this franchise), so the fanbase has gotten what it deserves plain & simple.
