Ryan Tannehill is on pace to be the first Miami Dolphin Quarterback since 2001 to throw 20 or more TDs (needs 1 a game). If Tanny throws 2 a game he'll get to 26 TDs, that will be better than all but 1 season by a Dolphins QB since 1991 (30 Marino, 1994). Since 1991 Here are the Miami Dolphins passing TD leaders in a sesaon...

1991-Dan Marino 25
1992-Dan Marino 24
1993-Scott Mitchell 12
1994-Dan Marino 30
1995-Dan Marino 24
1996-Dan Marino 17
1997-Dan Marino 16
1998-Dan Marino 23
1999-Dan Marino 12
2000-Jay Fiedler 14
2001-Jay Fiedler 20
2002-Jay Fiedler 14
2003-Jay Fiedler 11
2004-AJ Feeley 11
2005- Gus Frerotte 18
2006-Joey Harrington 12
2007-Cleo Lemon 6
2008-Chad Pennington 19
2009-Chad Henne 12
2010-Chad Henne 15
2011-Matt Moore 16
2012- Ryan Tannehill 12

Before Dustin Keller's injury I said my realistic expectations was 22 TDs and 15 INTs. He should be right around that. Does he have things to work on? Of course, but let's not act like he's having some terrible season.

I wish he'd stop throwing desperation heaves at the end of games. Making those interception numbers look bad, man!

Also, serious note, it's probably worth pointing out that most of those touchdowns are thrown into the end zone. How many big YAC touchdowns have we had? Gibson's great effort, Matthews against the Bucs, and now Clay's incredible tackle breaker?

off the top of my head...

Hartline against the Browns (wide open but he caught it outside the endzone)
Wallace against Colts
Matthews against Bucs
Clay against Chargers

Forgot the Wallace play against the Colts. Forgot that we actually used him intelligently in that game. Good catch.

Those are some depressing stats bro! Who was our last receiver or TE to catch 10+ TD's? I think it was Chambers and who knows before him. We have got to get with the program and add playmakers who score! These are pathetic numbers.

I like Brian Hartline, but he is not a good fit for what Joe Philbin wants to accomplish, which is receivers who catch the ball (i.e. big catch radius and can get contested footballs) and the ability to produce yards after the catch.

I honestly do not understand why we re-signed Hartline to big money and then pursued Wallace the way we did. It seems like there is a huge disconnect between what the coaching staff wants and what the personnel department is giving them, at least on offense. We'd be much better off with more big bodied guys who can go up and get the football like Gibson and Matthews.

I really like Hartline as a receiver, has dependable hands most of the time, runs crisp routes, excellent toe tapping and has chemistry with Tannehill. He is not a winning #2 receiver lacks the physicality and the balance to extend plays for YAC, is extremely overpaid. He needs to be replaced which will shock alot of people but he has been paid too much to be the receiver he should be. He should be a #4 receiver and he would excel in that role IMO.

Gibson has a solid contract and runs crisp routes as well. He's a strong receiver and a good run blocker. He lacks long speed but plays with determination and grit, he is a great value and is in the perfect position as long as he heals from his injury.

Mathews needs to be groomed to take the #2 receiver spot at least for the short term. He's big and strong, catches everything thrown at him, doesn't appear the game is too big for him and he doesn't get intimidated. He has good functional speed and he appears to have go-to capability.

We need 2 upgrades in the offseason that presents value to the fins in the following areas: cost, athleticism, size and explosion. We need playmakers to make plays, not having 25 TD passes in a passing league in over 20 years is a down right shame and that falls on a lot of people from GMs to coaches to the talent that wore our jerseys. It needs addressing badly.

I really like Hartline I do, but that 7 mil dollar contract is rediculous and could be well spent elsewhere.
