When Tom Brady visited the Miami Dolphins last year, things could not have gone much worse for the young Hall-of-Famer to be. He threw for only 171 yards on 18 of 29 passing, and although he did have 3 touchdown passes he also threw 4 interceptions that allowed the Miami Dolphins to steal the game 29-28. It was only one of two total losses for the New England Patriots in '04.
If the Dolphins want to once again beat the Patriots Nick Saban will have to figure out how to force Brady into a repeat last year's performance. The problem is that Brady is a very calm and cool pocket passer. He also has just enough elusiveness to buy his receivers some time to get open.
Therefore, the Dolphins' best bet is to focus on shutting down Corey Dillon. Getting to Brady will be much easier if the Patriots are put into obvious passing situations, and the best way to put a team into those situations is by shutting down the run on 1st and 2nd down.
Another key will be the health of Jason Taylor. The aging superstar defensive end has been hampered by a nagging foot injury. If he is rested and healthy for this game he will likely put a lot of pressure on Brady. He did last year, and was instrumental in that 29-28 comeback victory.
Finally, our two new free agent defensive linemen - Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holiday - will hopefully give us that push up the middle that we rarely had last season. Collapsing Brady's pocket from the inside is another good way to force him into some poor throws.
If the Miami Dolphins can win these important battles, don't be surprised to see Tom Brady post another multiple INT performance. If that happens, the Dolphins will be in a great position to win this game
