Daunte Culpepper was the offensive player of the week. Here are his stats:

23/39 249 yards 1 TD

Culpepper did play much better on Sunday. It was probably his best game yet. The only thing he did wrong has hold the ball a bit too long on a few plays. That is it. That was the only flaw in his game. If he had started the season with only that flaw, no one would be calling for a change at QB.

So make a change and get off the "Bring Joey In" bandwagon. It isn't going to happen. I wonder how much higher Culpepper stats would have been if Booker wouldn't have had butter fingers on Sunday. I also wonder what might start happening if players start taking the sacks on Culpepper personal. Maybe they would start giving the guy the blocks he needs when they matter most.

There won't be a QB change unless Culpepper gets hurt. The problems on offense are not on the QB. The O-line is inconsistent, the WRs are inconsistent, Ronnie's running game is inconsistent, Mularkey's play calling seems scattered at times, etc. So stop pinning the failures on offense on one guy. Culpepper is here to stay.

I'm not disagreeing with your theory here but!!!!

Culpepper is inconsistent!

See, I don't think he played inconsistent this Sunday. He fell apart in the Pittsburgh game, he was way off in the Buffalo game, and he was hesitant in the Titans game. But this Sunday, he played well. He looked like he was on track most of the game. He only hesitated a few times.

If by Ronnie being inconsistent you mean not getting the ball enough, then yeh...hes been inconsistent. You can't be inconsistent if you don't get enough carries to be inconsistent.

And they cost us.

His stats are good, but stats often lie.

He has been very inconsisitent, he has no pocket awareness at all.

That being said, he should start this week, but the Pats run some crazy schemes and confuse the best QB's out there, if he comes out and looks like chop liver against them, I just may start chanting Joey also.

Booker dropped a possible longggggggggg td catch and run too.

C-pep has DEFINITELY PROGRESSED in each and every game, and that's all you can ask for. I wish I could say the same about our abysmal offensive line.

What has harrington ever done in his career to make you confident he could do any better? Not attacking you, I just dont understand where the excitement is being generated for starting a guy who has been a bum since day 1 in the NFL (please dont use the "he played in detroit" excuse).

I guess we will agree to disagree. There are deep rooted problems with the chemistry on offense. That includes all the players. It isn't one position. Sorry, but that is the way it is.

I see it like this. Joey would come in, and maybe even win a game. Maybe two straight games. Maybe 3? But he would lose and the high would go away. The high that everyone was riding would pass, and guess what? Miami would be right back where they are now. The REAL problems would come out. The fact that the chemistry is under-developed on offense would get exposed again. That is why it is not one player.

The only reason Culpepper has shown "progress" thus far is because we keep playing worse and worse defenses, thats it.

 @ the thought of Harrington playing against New England.

That's suicide for 'poor little Joey'.......

I have to disagree whole heartedly here. I literally watched and replayed every single pass attempt from yesterday's game on my DVR and DC was very very consistently holding on too long. First off, all but two of the sacks occured when he had at least 3 or 4 seconds to get rid of the ball, standard for NFL passing. And if you looked really close, you could see by his body language that at that 3 or 4 second mark he saw something and thought about flicking it, but then double clutched and then looked elsewhere, and by that time the rush was on him. He was absolutely not going with his first instinct, he was hesitating, and just plain taking too long. I saw absolutely no confidence in his ability to pass downfield, as evidenced by pass after pass being dumped off to the RB/TE in the flats. This is fine when you're taking your shots downfield as well, but when this is all you do, you're setting your team up for not being able to run, not threatening the defense's deep backfield, and sentencing your defense to alot of three and out musical chairs. You can't look at DC's stats to make a determination of his performance, as they tell a tall tale. Just watch the game, and ask yourself "is this No. 8 guy doing anything exceptionally well?"..."is he capable of doing great things to bring this team to victory, by himself at times?". As much as I'm tempted to lie to myself, I can't honestly say either of those two things about DC anymore. And if I can't say those things, is he really our future? Is he really capable of doing anything more magical for us than Fiedler or Frerotte, both of whom were capable guys, but always demanded someone to defend them instead of letting their play on the field defend itself. Bottom line, if this is the "real DC", we're in alot of trouble. If it's not, I'm willing to wait, but not at the expense of a season's success. I'm not a JH fan, as I think he fits into the same category as Fiedler and Frerotte, but at this point, I'm not even sure Culpepper is playing at that level.

Our o-line has been bad, but Pepp has had the pocket mobility of Kurt Warner. There's a reason why every year on every team, Warner eventually loses his job. I just wish we could say the same thing about Pepp. We had worse players with Frerotte and he did just fine, if he could have hit a barn with his throws we would have been set.

We probably should not have gotten rid of Gus until we knew what Culpepper would be capable of. Sucks that we couldn't have seen this coming...
