Uh, no. This has very little to do with whether or not the Vikings are going to trade Culpepper. In the very same press conference, he refused to deny that the Vikings were talking about trading Culpepper.
It's not in the Vikings best interest let a rumor about them cutting Culpepper float around if they want to trade him.

The last thing the Vikes want to do is lose any possible chance of trading him, and with all of the talk about them straight up releasing him, the Vikes might be doing this just to make it appear they want to keep him....
In effect, that would force the teams who are interested, to trade for him instead of just waiting for his release....
I know one thing is certain, they really like QB B. Johnson in that offense, and if they choose to keep Culpepper, there will no doubt be a QB controversy in Minny this year...

No I think Saban stopped the talks to see if they would release him rather then pay him the bonus this week but I hope we get Brees anyway. Culpepper was very lucky to have the offense around him he used to have there. If you remember when he sat out 3 or 4 games a few years ago because a cracked vertabrea Frerotte came in and had a QB rating over 100 for the time Culpepper sat out.
