Thank you, Mr. Wilson for delivering the Dolphins their first ever regular season home and road wins.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May he rest in peace.

"Services will be 11 a.m. Aug. 29 at St. Frances Cabrinie Catholic Church, 5030 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. His wife plans to scatter his cremated remains at Sanibel Island, a favorite vacation spot of theirs.
“Then he’ll always be swimming with the dolphins,” she said."

Quick Question if anyone knows...?
Did George Wilson Jr. reside in Spring Hill Fla??
I live in Sp Hill and am really looking into attending the funeral.
He's obviously way before my time but, I am wayyy to big a
Dolphin fan to pass up the opportunity to pay my respects to
the QB that won the first game ever for us.

If you happen to live around that area and want to meet up with me and
attend that lmk. I reside 5mins from that church and have had a few
members of my family and friends funeral services there. Basically Its
my familys church...but yea like I said just lmk if there's someone...

Everybody PLZZ stop thinkin so negative about the squad we all
Love the Dolphins and I think that's why it hurts the most. Lets
as fans Pump our Team!!!! Go Dolphins!!

Sad to see this.... He worked at the Golf Shop in the Oldsmar Flea Market on weekends. He was a GREAT guy. He always talked Miami Dolphins football whenever I went in there. RIP George.

RIP George, and thanks (also don't forget to to give your dad a fistpump on behalf of Fins fans everywhere)

snippet:
The fledgling Dolphins started their first season with five losses.
One quarterback threw lots of interceptions, another was injured. Fans thirsted for a win.
Enter rookie quarterback George Wilson Jr., the unlikeliest of heroes. As the son of George Wilson Sr., the Dolphins’ first head coach, Junior looked like a beneficiary of nepotism. A lot of people thought he didn’t deserve to be there, and they had a strong case. At Xavier University his senior year, he had not started a game.
But on Oct. 16, 1966, it was George Wilson Jr. who quarterbacked the Dolphins to their first win, a 24-7 victory over Denver. Another win followed the next week. Teammates named him most valuable player of the month.
Then the dream dissipated like a soap bubble. Wilson was traded briefly to Denver, then to Canadian and minor-league football. By 1969, he was out of the game for good.
He worked in a variety of sales jobs before retiring to Weeki Wachee in 2004. A brief hero of the original Dolphins, Wilson died Aug. 6, of throat cancer. He was 68.
