Gabe Hughes grew up approximately 30 minutes from the Dolphins’ stadium and in April realized a dream when he signed an undrafted free agent with Miami, becoming the first player in Florida Tech Panthers history to sign an NFL contract.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – For tight end Gabe Hughes, a standout at Highlands Christian High Academy in Pompano Beach, Florida, the NFL was always the dream. And after three seasons with Florida Tech football, that wish came true.

In April, Hughes signed as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins, becoming the first player in Florida Tech Panthers history to sign an NFL contract.
The great news hits home—literally.
Hughes grew up approximately 30 minutes from the Dolphins’ stadium, formerly known as Sun Life Stadium. Looking back, Hughes remembers not exactly being a strong player on the field.

Being a local I wish him well. My friends nephew is the starting Qb for FIT hia last name is Ziarno and we are excited . I think this is only their 3 rd season with a team. More academics than athletics. But wishing gabe the best.

Intriguing prospect. To me, he needs to make the team/practice squad based on his ability to block. We have polished pass catchers, but if he can show decent two-way ability then he has a football career ahead of him. He has more size than many of our TE options, but if he insists on being a flex move TE, he likely will not make the team.

I'm rooting for the kid.
