Andre Johnson is back on the schedule.

So are Randy Moss and Wes Welker … twice.

That alone added up to 36 catches, 503 yards and four TDs in three games last season, two of them Dolphins’ losses.

With Plaxico Burress reaching out to the Tampa Bay Bucs, it makes you how new-and-improved the Dolphins’ secondary is really going to look, especially after last weekend’s mini-camp.

Free-agent cornerback Eric Green gave up four long touchdown passes. New free safety Gibril Wilson was late on over-the-top coverage on two of them.

Rookie CBs Sean Smith and Vontae Davis have shown flashes of brilliance, especially Smith. But both are 21, not quite the age to line up mano-a-mano with Pro Bowler after Pro Bowler, like the Dolphins will face.

Will Allen signed a nice two-year extension because of his solid play the past two seasons, but also can’t do it alone.

Many have wondered here and everywhere what having the NFL’s toughest schedule really means.

One thing it means is the Dolphins’ pass defense is going to be under the gun pretty much from Week 1 to Week 17.

What's he talking about?

Doesn't he know that Miami's rookies are going to come and limit all these guys to a total of 4 receptions for 29 yards?

It should be interesting to see if we're more effective this year against the Pats when they spread it out. They pretty much embarrassed us in the second game last year.

Yes, but by the same logic, how are those guys doing in OTAs? It's great to say that they will dominate us, but they are all in the same stages of preseason as we are.

All of those guys are vets and you can be relatively sure they will be the same as they always are....though I do think Owens will show a significant dropoff this yr.

I don't really get his point. Most of the NFL teams have at least one good or above average receiver. If NFL teams would be playing high school receivers they could very well stay at home. We have NFL players too on our roster, so I don't see a reason to worry.

So, let me get this straight. We are going to be playing NFL teams, AND NFL players this year? You mean we are going to be playing professional athletes ALL YEAR LONG? That's ridiculous. Cancel the season.

Wow. This is indeed news. I was under the impression for every rookie CB we start the opponent must have their WR’s count “one Mississippi two Mississippi” after the snap before they can start their route. In addition (according to the rules), the WR has to make every effort to give the CB a strong “hint” as to where he’s running. Something like, “I’m going over the middle, OK?”

I agree. Most NFL teams have at least one WR teams need to really prepare for.

And Andre Johnson is not just a WR – the dude is a bonafide force of nature! He’s the best WR in the game right now IMO, and maybe by a good margin.

You are right. I think my main point is that Will Allen, Wilson, and Bell are proven veterans as well. I think we will be okay against these WRs. Maybe not amazing, but okay.

He is so right, it's not like a rookie CB has ever started from day 1 in the season....Oh wait, it's happened on countless occasions.

Well, Miami can't expect to have a better pass-rush this year...Oh wait, with Taylor, Wake on board this year, and the others 1 year to grow, and more physical DB this year, there will be a better Pass-rush this year.

It is very simple, Miami does have a tougher schedule, and will be playing against teams that have premier WR, but Miami will have not 1 but 2 young CBs that will be competing to start opposite Allen, and neither has disappointed yet. On top of that, Miami will have a much more aggressive pass-rush this year, so great WR or not, they better get open quickly.

Something everyone is overlooking is if you have a good pass rush, your secondary does not have to be as strong. I believe we have upgraded our pass rush this year and we will do fine. Yes we have a hard schedule but that's why you play the game.

Unlike the previous coaches, we will have a different game each week to keep the other team off balance which means we need strong play from our special teams and kicking for I feel we will have a lot of games come down to 3 points. JMO.
