I keep the following:

Landry
Tunsil
Parker
Albert
Denney
Darr
Franks
Pouncy
Suh
Jones
Howard
Tannehill this yr with Gase

I am with you on that list and would add Philips and Alonso to it, but at the end of the year I would get rid of Pouncey, Albert, and Tannehill. You can not justify paying Tannehill $18 million next season. You can not justify paying Suh as much as he is going to get either, when you have a team that is this bad, but he is a great player and there is no way to get out of his contract.

I've said it for years on this site..... A GM bases his decisions on input from his scouts. The scouts are assigned certain areas of the country in which to work. After going to a game, they file reports on draftable players...... This much is known.

What isn't known is what they're looking for when they scout offensive linemen and cornerbacks. I can say this...... Whoever recommended Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner need to be fired. Immediately.

I'm afraid this team does need a major purge and rebuild. I think your list could be a little bit larger adding a few players from this past draft, but I totally agree with the names "Rickd13" mentions as possible "cap casualties". I don't envy whoever has to ultimately clean up this mess, but I know one thing it's not Gase's fault. The front office has to realize you don't fix this problem by throwing money at it. You want to spend money, poured in to scouting and start drafting like a winning organization like Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or Denver

In hindsight those were bad decisions, but you have to remember the draft is fluid. They were drafting by need and who's to say the scouts had other players in mind but they were picked by the time our turn came around. I suppose this just makes a stronger case for picking the best available athlete. How can you justify missing three years in a row, maybe worse because the jury still out on James, on the offense of line? That I agree is hard to defend.

I would get rid of Albert, Pouncey and Tannehill this season before the trade deadline. I would try to get a draft pick of some form for each, even if it's only a 7th or a conditional.

What's wrong with keeping Grant and Steen and Simms? And I'm not giving up on Phillips yet either

Ozzy rules!!

Just so people know (I've posted this in another forum)...but to understand what our biggest issue is with drafting, the guy who has been in charge of our college scouting for the last 9 years in our current GM. So all these misses in the second and 3rd round...the reaches in the first and the inability to fins a decent lineman without using a top 15 pick is partly on him and his department.

Phillips was not a bad draft pick. The problem being he was over-drafted. How good would Ronald Darby look right about now? We could of had him instead of JP, Bobby McC & Tony Lippett.

Agreed. At some point, every team is going to have to load up on average players, players with specialty (e.g., ST), and keep some who show potential AND improvement. That's the real world. Getting rid of players because they aren't 'top' players is not realistic. I'm on the other side of that number. I'd identify 15 players who should be gone.

Right. You can't get rid of everyone and not everyone is going to be a pro bowler either. The cap won't allow for that anyway. You just need the right combination of some top players and role players too.

Gase just needs a real owner

Gase just needs a GM

Gase just needs an entirely new scouting dept

Gase just needs a RG

Gase just needs a LG

Gase just needs a C

Gase just needs a RB1

Gase just needs an X WR

Gase just needs a TE

Gase just needs a LDE

Gase just needs a RDE

Gase just needs an WOLB

Gase just needs a SOLB

Gase just needs a MLB

Gase just needs a CB1

Gase just needs a NCB

Gase just needs a FS

Gase just needs 47 more of his guys and then, THEN, he can perform his duties as a head coach and be successful.

You could just simply follow the draft boards of guys like Mel Kiper Jr. and other draft tv personalities and do as good a job if not better than what Miami has done over the years. Save a lot of money by cutting your scouts down to a minimal number as well. I speak this tongue and cheek of course but we have to wonder why Miami's scouting and drafting has been so horrible for so long.
