Dallaass was charged with a "fourth tmeout"... Why not give them a "fifth down"
dolans brace youselves for a very long "hatefilled season"...
God help us all!!!!

I was watching the Dallas feed of the game and they were just as perplexed...

I don't think that would've happened in the regular season.. But still. Wtf?

Haha, that was absolutely ridiculous. I hope we get a 4th time out when we play New England.

Seriously though, that refereeing crew should get fined for that blunder.

Relax, I've seen it happen before. It actually is a rule. I don't remember why its a rule but it is one.

its real

A team cannot buy an excess time out for a penalty. However, a fourth time out is allowed without penalty for an injured player, who must be removed immediately. A fifth time out or more is allowed for an injury and a five-yard penalty is assessed if the clock was running. Additionally, if the clock was running and the score is tied or the team in possession is losing, the ball cannot be put in play for at least 10 seconds on the fourth or more time out. The half or game can end while those 10 seconds are run off on the clock.

Digest of Rules Main

Timing in Final Two Minutes of Each Half

On kickoff, clock does not start until the ball has been legally touched by player of either team in the field of play. (In all other cases, clock starts with kickoff.)

If the defensive team is behind in the score and commits a foul when it has no time outs left in the final 40 seconds of either half, the offensive team can decline the penalty for the foul and have the time on the clock expire.
Fouls that occur in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter as well as the last two minutes of the first half will result in the clock starting on the snap.

Interesting, even after all these years I am still learning rules about this game. Still think it is a dumb rule.

If a player gets injured when while his team has no timeouts an extra timeout is granted. If it occurred with the clock running there would have been a 10-second runoff. No 10-second runoff because the clock was stopped because of the incomplete pass.

Remember....These are the "Real" Refs. Not replacements. The "Real"
refs that everyone wanted back so desperately.

How do they not know how many time outs
a team gets?

When I was watching that drive Dallas had zero time outs shown on the screen , Miami had 2.
They said Dallas charged with there 3rd but didn't have one. Then the 4fh timeout. Crazy stuff.

They do know that. They also know the rules. Which appears to make one of you.

People act like they've never seen the clock stopped for an injury when a team didn't have a timeout before. When that happens it's consider an extra timeout... if the situation happens and causes the clock to stop running there a 10-second runoff. If the the clock was stopped anyway, such as it was last night after the incomplete pass, it's not that big of a deal.
