Even two seasons ago when the Dolphins won just one game, the running game was the team's biggest strength with Ronnie Brown. Who knew his "Wildcat" ways would start the hottest NFL trend of 2008? Team officials are quietly hoping for bigger things from Brown this fall, with the RB rolling into minicamps in the best shape of his career. You have to credit Bill Parcells for keeping an open mind and reviving Ricky Williams' pro career, wisely as a supplementary piece to keep the focus and pressure off his sensitive soul (and that's not meant as an insult, just the reality). Cobbs is listed as the current third-stringer, but he's more important as a return threat. Miami could use a better No. 3 piece, but as long as the Ronnie-Ricky combo stays healthy (never a given for either), the Dolphins should be set in the backfield.

Think Hasenmayer greatly under-rates Cobbs and he clearly has not seen him play. Cobbs I would have said, is an ideal 3rd down back.

with his down-hill running, and pretty damn good catching abilty, the only thing keeping Cobbs from being a no. 1 is breakaway speed, but he has good enough speed and a quick step to be a no. 2 in this team...for ANY team

I think it's a fair ranking for now. I expect us to move up by year's end. I do like Cobbs but, he has not gotten many caries to show what he can do. Some would prefer to have more of a change of pace speed back.

I have to disagree with you here. Cobbs is probably our fastest running back. Watch the Houston game or the Kansas City game from last year where he made huge plays (especially in the receiving game) by just outrunning people. Towards the end of the season he also returned some kicks and displayed good speed.

haha, I went to one of the earlier Training camps before the 08 Season started. I got like 10 autographs on my hat, the only ones that seem to still be on the team that signed it is Patrick Cobbs XD All the rest are off. O well.

I like Anthony Kimble as a potential third down star. If he can learn how to block from Ricky and Ronnie he could play a major role in the future.

I expect he will bulk up about ten pounds on the practice squad this year and the kid is an ex-WR and has great hands.

the ravens shouldn't be in front of the cowboys and the dolphins... the bills' backfield should also be a few spots better

I think I would prefer Richard Kimble as one who is great at avoiding people and tackles. JK/LOL

He underrates Cobbs as our number 3. Cobbs is a great number 3.

I don't know about numbers 4 through 7. Atlanta, NYG, San Diego, and Baltimore. Michael Turner was awesome last year, but Norwood wasn't amazing. Last year the Giants had an amazing 1,2,3 with Jacobs, Bradshaw, and Ward. I don't see Ware being able to fill Ward's shoes, and Jacobs will eventually break down with his running style. LT is still LT? No he isn't. It showed last year. Oh but he was hurt. Yea, that's what happens to older running backs. They get hurt, and dont return to form. Sproles was good, but he was no Turner. And Baltimore? McClain is a beast. McGahee is a *****. and Rice is unproven.

Apparently you haven't been watching very many Falcons games. Jerrius Norwood has absolutely electric speed. He was the fastest player in the combine the year he came out (07' I believe), the fastest player on his team, and probably faster than any player on our team. He's a home-run threat every time he touches the football. We would be making a huge mistake to only game plan for Turner in the running game in week 1.

Strange list. I really don't know where to start. I'd love to see the author justify ranking the Ravens ahead of the 49ers - let alone by THAT much.

Norwood had the worst rushing year of his career and still had a 5.1 yards per carry. His yards per catch was also 21.1. He was pretty amazing.
