On a finsiders interview with Coach Philbin recently he spoke to them doing some things at guard including trying players who hadn't played guard before.
The way I look at this is - it's like kicking the tires on UDFA's or street FA's you want to see what players can do and could they excel in something they haven't necessarily done before. I see it being the right thing to do - if you have questions at a position, then you should explore every option. And if there isn't an answer in house, then I suspect they go outside - maybe someone like an Evan Mathis, but considering his age - look at everyone in house - you just never know.
And IF Fox is the swing tackle - getting a few reps at Guard just adds roster flexibility.
Yes we'd like to have this resolved but it's where we're at, unfortunately.
