FOX's Glazer: Players being kept out of the loop

I blame Upshaw for a lot of the problems the league is in right now.

Also announces release of Shields and Glover. Tell me how Upshaw has the time to talk to Glazer but will not take calls from his player reps?

To him the media is a valuable tool. The players & their agents are just plain tools. Imagine him explaining the ins/outs of the negotiations to say, a Vince Young. Ha. Their agents are only slightly brighter. Sorry, Brett.

Upshaw seems to have his own agenda for sure, IMO he doesn't give a hoot about the players. But I also blame the players somewhat, they are now complaining about not being kept in the loop,( a day late and a dollar short)....they should have insisted on this from day one.

Gene Upshaw is doing a tremendous job. He is the best player rep. in the history of sports.

Excellent 2nd post! Care to join my Sarcastics Anonymous Finheaven club? I'm not only the president, I'm a client.

I said this in another post. The players should have been on upshaw since it started to look like a deal might not get done. They lose insane amounts of leverage once 2007 hits. The star players dont have much to worry about unless they are getting up there in age. It's the third stringers, scout team and project players. They might not be able to make more then a teachers salary if they want to continue to play football. Scout teams are needed, but can be filled with and number of players if one guy doesnt like the fact that an owner will only pay him 15k to be on the scout team he cant do anything about it. They arent good enough players or essential enough to be able to bargain with another team about their salary. Some of those players might as well go to CFL or AFL and become stars rather then be screwed like they will be.

Gene? It's good to have you on FinHeaven...I am surprised you have time to post though with all that you have going on....get back to work Mr. Upshaw.

There was a similar lack of communication during the last CBA negotiations in the NHL. It ultimately led to a year long lockout and backfired in the players' faces. When the players finally did sign a new deal after 18 months, it worse than the one they were originally offered.
