Ryan Tannehill suddenly earning contract in Dolphins’ revival

From NY post.....
http://nypost.com/2016/11/15/ryan-tannehill-suddenly-earning-contract-in-dolphins-revival/

Much of the sudden rebound can be attributed to Ryan Tannehill, who is finally playing like the franchise quarterback the Dolphins are richly paying him to be. Tannehill is completing 67 percent of his passes with four TDs and no interceptions for a 102.4 rating during Miami’s current win streak.

The article is actually another power rankings article, in which they have us 11th, but nice to see some fins coverage as the rankings preface. This may be the first mention of "playing like a franchise QB" I've seen.

Right now he fits the bill, and there are plenty of reasons to believe it will continue or get better.....settling into new offense, Parker, and even more contributions from rookies. I hesitate to include Sims right now.....starting to look more like a relic of the past regime.

I hate the franchise QB/elite QB/average QB talk. Is he helping us win? If so, I don't give a flying F how he's slotted or ranked.

When a QB makes the plays that are there to be had and limits mistakes, that's good enough to win and it's good enough for the contract he has. You can win with that kind of QB play. Call it a game manager, call it elite, call it franchise, I don't care. It's not once-in-a-gen talent like Manning or Rodgers but it's distinctly better than QB purgatory. You can get to a SB with this kind of QB.

he is a franchise qb and miamis gonna pick up the rest of that contract at or before the 5th day of the new league year

book it

Saying he's "Suddenly playing well" or whatever bugs me. I see the same QB we've had the last few years. I just see a culture change and an offense that is finally executing around him. He hasnt been doing anything we havent seen in the past, he has always flashed in games. He just seems more consistent bc we finally have a running game and adequate OL, combined with better play designs and his freedom at the line is really the difference.

Steve Beuerlein: “They have the right coach there for him with Adam Gase… He’s a tough guy who wants to be successful. He can make all the throws. He’s going to get better each week. I believe he is going to get better and is going to be a pretty darn good quarterback under Adam Gase for a lot of years.”

Chris Simms: “Tannehill has great physical ability… What has really happened in Miami? The offensive line is healthy. They have a run game. They have a healthy Devante Parker to throw to. He finally has a chance to succeed and he’s showing you that he can do it.”

that is crazy talk, he's doing a decent job(though he kept us in the game you beat us) but he's more of a caretaker. this is Ajayi's offense and it revolves around him. Ryan has to make a few plays here and there and definitely did that at SD but let's see him step up in a big spot and put the team on his back before we start talking franchise QB. he's shown flashes in the past and has never been able to do it consistently.

made more than just a few plays last week...he was in a big spot, down with the game on the line, and he threw a dime to devante parker along the sidelines while getting crushed that got us into field goal range.

call him whatever you want but we won that game because of tannehill and his ability to make big, challenging throws when we needed them.

period.

Great, but the thread is clearly labeled as "franchise QB".

Me, i'll be glad to take a winning team either way, but i feel alot better about long term success if Tannehill is/becomes that franchise QB that we can really rely on to play well year-in year-out. QB instability is never a model for success - so it's important and he's showing signs of getting there.

He is our franchise QB. Get over it.

Last week he made a few big time plays, if that’s the guy going forward you have a chance but your D did need to score a TD to win and a week earlier he was terrible against us keeping us in that game when you should have blown us out. If SD becomes the norm I’ll agree and while he has been better he hasn’t arrived just yet.

It's about time he starts getting the respect he deserves. Despite Philbin's best efforts, he couldn't ruin his career.

"Crazy Talk" ??? Try "I wouldn't take 2 first round picks for him.. we already have our franchise QB." LOL.

Ryan Tannehill is "more of a caretaker" says the guy with the bizarre Mark Sanchez obsession.
