Matt Miller of the Bleacher Report has spoken to sources around the league who don’t see veteran RB Frank Gore returning to the San Francisco 49ers next season.
However, Miller reports that there will definitely be a market for Gore in the coming weeks and lists the Colts, Redskins and Dolphins as potential suitors.
Of the three, Miller’s sources consider the Colts to be a “shoo-in” to sign Gore as a free agent this offseason given that they could really use a legitimate No. 1 running back.
Colts HC Chuck Pagano and assistant Rod Chudzinski are reportedly interested in bringing Gore to Indianapolis and can offer him a starting role.
The same can’t be said for the Redskins, as they already have Alfred Morris on their roster, which means Gore would almost certainly have to share carries to some degree.
The Dolphins could pair Gore with Lamar Miller, which could be a solid tandem moving forward. However, if the Colts were in fact willing to offer him a starting job, the Dolphins would probably have a hard time luring him to Miami.

A source recently told Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee that Gore is looking for two things in free agency: 1.) Another 1,000-yard season, which would put him past 12,000 yards for his career, 2.) A chance at a Super Bowl title.
The Colts figure to be his best opportunity at either.

I have always like Gore but it comes done to the dollars and cents he wants.....I would love to see in the Fins uniform though....but its not my call....now if it were Madden I would sign him, but this aint Madden

I would love the tandem of Miller and Gore. Hopefully Miller can convince him in their off-season workouts.

I don't think he has much left. He might make a nice complement to Miller, but it has to be at the right price.

This exactly.

Plus, they're light years ahead of us in terms of competing for a Super Bowl. Probably has something to do with the QB position.

i think you're being a little gracious calling them "light years" ahead, they looked pretty sorry against NE in the playoffs 2 years in a row now is it?

certainly if that team expects to make it any farther they'll need to give their qb some help, and he'll probably need to start throwing less picks in the playoffs.

Use a draft pick on a RB. Great draft to do so.

I would wait out the RB FA market. Someone is going to be there that could help.

Apart from being University of Miami alumni, it is well known that Miller and Gore are also friends. Gore has been like a mentor to Lamar at the U and also as an NFL professional, providing encouragement and tips in the offseason.
If a door in San Francisco closes for Gore, I can see an immediate attraction to play for the Dolphins. This could be perfect.
Gore, Miller and Williams would be a pretty good RB trio. Damien Williams looked good in limited opportunities last season.

Funny how we talk out of both sides of our mouths on this subject.

Now the narrative is that the Colts looked sorry against those ever cheating New England Patriots.

Which is it. I'm confused.

Probably one or the other don't you think Hayden. If they don't find the guy in the draft they like then look at the FA's like Gore or Moreno.
If Duke Johnson fell to us in the third or fourth I would be tempted. Not the perfect compliment to Miller but a big play waiting to happen.

Maybe. I just think this an interesting group of RB's in this year's draft…very deep with low odometers. However, there are so many FA RB's and with the position being devalued, I think there will be some decent backs available late in FA that could sign for the minimum.

The only one outside of the Miami guys I followed was Gurley from UGA. If he stays healthy that guy will be a monster.

With all our other needs I doubt they go RB early. They might target someone in the middle rounds and if they miss go get a FA.
