We all know Fred Beasley, an ALL PRO FB was signed today. Here's my question though. Why only a 1 year deal for someone that still has atleast 3-5 good years left.

I think we might be high on Kyle Eckel, and after this year he can request to be released early from his commitment to the U.S. NAVY.

I don't think he's on our roster now, but I have a feeling we will sign him again this year and get a roster exemption because he is in the Navy.

probably because of his age (32), and because his last two seasons were not as impressive as past seasons, i mean, obviously if he lasted this long into FA there have to be some questions about him.

You guys are reading too much into this. He may have only wanted a one year deal because the salary cap goes up substantially next year. He's taking a gamble that he can earn even more next year with us or someone else.

The only reason I can think of is he's going on 33 Years old.

Great Pick Sign 1 Year So We See What He Has Left, Plus He Is Better Then Anyone We Have .... Go Dolphins

IMO the FB position is the least important starting position on this team.We have been emphasing the H backs
In addition FBs are a dime a dozen. We have had several pass through in the last couple of years .

Mularky likes to use FBs more than Linehan did so that may change.

i agree with crunch time...fbs r dime a dozen and im pretty sure this type of offense doesnt need his services...

u are totally right. he signs a nice deal than this season blocks and does awsome make it to the pro bowl salary cap goes up and bam! he gets paid huge because of his pro bowl season. and id rather have him 1 year b/c that makes him work even harder on a contract year! so i think we made a great move both ways. welcome to miami fred

Name 7 great fullbacks in the league, can you even do that? Now by comparison name 7 great recievers, its far easier to find great players at positions other than FB

Thats like saying the QB position isnt important because we have had some different guys come in and out the last few years
