My family was having a New Years eve party and I could not concentrate on the Colts game. Other than seeing that he was out there, I could not really concentrate on how Evans did. Can someone please give me an evaluation of Evans' play against the Colts? I really like the kid's quickness and motor and think he can be a factor next year.

How did he do?

Has a great push up the field, but did not play much. Stuffed the run good on one run play that I remember and got good pressure up the middle. I bet he only played 10 plays though and had 2 tackles. Good young prospect just like Rod Wright-DE, Texas

Kid's big! I can't understand WHY Saban kept playing Zgonina. He has no future with this team. Why not givethe young guys on the line a shot. Because they are not better than the vets in practice? When you are in contention that's fine. When we were eliminated then you give the young guys some experience in meaningful games for other teams to see how they repsond. I think he made the wrong decisions this year regarding PT for the young guys.

If Saban leaves today maybe that will be a clue as to why he played Zgonina..

Saban was here to win now, and maybe wasn't planning a re-building process. I would say they way he formed the roster indicates more of a win now philosophy and not a re-building focus. But, the new coach (if he leaves) will be a re-building guy. I believe that.

Don't some of these rookies only have like a two year contract attached to them. By not heavely starting them towards the end of the season takes away some of their bargening power. Maybe...

He looked real good...

but only for about ten plays. I'll be honest with you, I just don't think Saban has it. He should have been playing Evans from day one instead of Zgonina. Zgonina didn't make many plays and Evans couldn't have been any worse and proabably would have been better. He's the type of player who you watch the game and say, "Who is that?" Yeremiah Bell was the same type of player and seemingly everyone but Saban figured that out. When the light finally came on and Yeremiah started we went on our winning streak, largely because of Yeremiah. He did miss a few assignments late, but was one of the dominant defensive players in the league for about 6 games. I suspect our new coach will figure this out and Evans should get some good PT with Zgonina and either Holliday or Traylor gone.

i don't think that is his motivation at all...

more of his tendency to go with "proven" veterans.

if you hadn't noticed this by now, saban is very risk aversive.
