free agency and the draft....

since we are pretty much done for the year what are your realistic hopes for our free agent signings and draft, most of the top guys teams will not let get away like peterson,wayne,bentley ect. and i dont think we have a shot at lineart imo. so what is your realistic hopes? here are mine!

1.qb- our biggest problem for the last 6 years. i would like to bring in a decent vet and draft a young guy to learn for a year or so. Kitna in fa and draft cutler in the 2nd.

2.corner- poole will be back but who knows how he will perform? and madison is maybe got 1 year left so i think we should draft jimmy williams in the 1st if he is there

3.olb-seau is probably going to retire and we are going to need another starter witherspoon from carolina will probably be avalible in freeagency.

4.saftey-we should resign schulters and go after adam archuleta in free agency, keep tillman and bell as decent backups

5.wr-I think we need 1 more guy, not to start but for a back up maybe a taller guy who could catch fades in the endzone, jo jurevicius would be nice, a vet with good hands we could go to on 3rd downs.

Brady Quinn if he goes next year....We wont get lienart, somebody else will pick him up before we even get a chance to think about him. We could always trade though
 
i dont think safety is that big a need. We draft or bring in a good FA cb to go with Madison and hopefully Poole can come back from injury. If that happens we can move daniels to safety to go along with lance, bell, and tillman
 
I don't think no one cares. Personally, I don't like talking about next year right after a loss. It is a sour feeling for me. I would rather look ahead to next week.
 
I think we need to do whatever we can to get Leinart. The other help we need can be addressed in FA.
 
I have a feeling we'll be trading up in the draft. It seems like Saban explored the option this year for Alex Smith. I believe that he really wants to get a young, quality QB to build his team around. If so, I agree with him wholeheartedly.

It's definately not a deep QB class this year, but you only see a guy like Leinart once a decade, and Quinn looks just as special in my opinion (in fact, I like Quinn more and hope he declares). I am beginning to see the value of a Jay Cutler though. You wouldn't need to nab a free agent QB if you got either of these two guys, because they could start right away. Those teams that will pick in front of us are committed at QB (Houston, Green Bay, San Francisco). We don't have to trade up for the #1 pick, we just gotta get to number 4 overall or so.

We'll see what happens, but here's hoping we can trade up to get Leinart or Quinn with this, and next years second rounder. If we can't do it with that, we might as well as make a run at Rivers.

What about Arizona and the Jets?
 
Draft Leinart, grab a corner in the 2nd. Get Peterson, Archulata, and possibly Woodson in f/a, Wayne wouldnt be a bad pickup either for WR. Trade some of our stars we have now for draft picks, and create some new blood and life.
 
petreson was tagged this year so i dont think he wil be again, bentley will and hutchingson will, birk shouldnt nor would bousche. T williams hope archuleta are available alongside chavous woodson and clemente will get tagged. R wayne should be let go due to money he would want.
 
Charles Rogers, former #2 overall pick 3 years ago will be out there and has a Michigan State connection with Saban.

I'd say...1st this year and a 3rd this year and a 2nd next for leinart. CB/WR/LB in 2nd trade RW for either a pick in the 3rd or trake him instead of the 3rd this year and get a LB/S/WR with that pick then the rest are crappy 7th rounders. Pick up Birk/Bentley if not tagged/saturday i heard might be/peterson/archuleta or maybe T. williams/and a chavoous maybe.

you're right, I forgot about them. If we do want to trade up, we'll definately be competing with those two. I expect the Jets to make a ridiculous offer to the Chargers for Rivers though...
