8:25 PT: Updating previous reports, ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reports barring any changes, the new deal S Tebucky Jones will receive from the New Orleans Saints is a five-year, $18.75 million deal that will include a $5 million signing bonus and a second-tier option bonus of $1 million. The two sides worked out the deal more than three weeks ago.

8:17 PT: Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots have agreed to terms on a trade that will send S Tebucky Jones from New England to New Orleans for a third- and seventh-round draft choice in the 2003 NFL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. The Saints have two picks in both the third and seventh rounds this year, and it’s unclear which picks will be sent. An official announcement on the trade is expected to come on Monday.

There goes the Saints, Let's see if Spurrier offers us a pick for Freeman. But I think all they have between rounds 3-5 is a 3rd. But it looks like we'll see Freeman back there again, not being used right as usual. He'll be a FS playing as a SS once again if we retain him. That's why we're better off with Knight. Maybe we'll get both, let Freeman learn another year behind Brock, and replace him last year as Brock's salary goes up.
But boy, oh boy did the Saints overpay for Jones. BIG TIME!!!
