During Saban's press conference, he wanted to say that "Frerotte being so ahead of the others", could be the reason why he looks so mediocre out there by overthrowing/underthrowing his receivers +- 10 yards

I believe it could be a timing issue if you ask me but I don't think Gussy is an accurate QB..He has the arm strenght to throw those bombs, but precision and accuracy are not his best friends.

Do you guys believe that Frerotte being ahead in the learning curve, and our RB, WR, TE having too learn this system is making him look bad.

In my opinion, overthrowing receivers by 10 yds like he did is making me believe that Gussy is the one behind :shakeno:

I think Gus being Gus is making him look bad.....and the fact that Saban is already making excuses for him isn't a good sign IMO.

I think Saban is making excuses for him to protect Linehan. Hopefully that ends soon either by Gus stepping up or Gus sitting down

One thing people are not getting around here is that Linehan wants deep balls. Gus didn't hit many of them, but he just kept trying, and that's why Linehan said Gus is ahead. Saban even said it was just at matter of hitting a few of them. If AJ Feeley doesn't start banging it downfield, I don't think he gets closer to a starting gig. He threw two long this weekend, but the problem is that he only seems to do this when he gets close to the endzone (NE TD for example), and he needs to try and do this everywhere on the field.

Thats an interesting observation. I'm going to start watching for that. I know that between the 30s he likes to go for the ten to fifteen yarders if they're available but i think when he's backed up he does tend to go short

Yes, Gus is totally ahead because of the chances that he takes. Put yourself in Linehan's position:
On one hand you have a guy who is doing everything you could want in your system and is iffy on accuracy.

On the other hand you have a guy who lacks the confidence to even use your system properly by taking downfield chances.

With all of the managing that Offensive coordinators do, it's no surprise that right now Linehan wants the guy that tries to exploit all of the tools that the system allows.

Did any of you actually see the #s he put up under Linehan before in Minn? We dn't have Moss, but he did a great job in the offense.

This whole Feely/Gus debate is sad. We need to run the ball and use Ricky and Ronnie as our main weapons anyway.

gus throws to high. hes going get a wr hurt
