I know some of you will get mad at this thread and probably think it's unreal, but if we sign Brees he will have to learn a new system which is different than the one in San Diego, and I don't think 5 QB schools and 1 month of training camp will help him feel confortable at 100% with this system.

It takes at least half a season to get the timing of your receivers down ....

I don't see how Frerotte who allready has his timing with Booker and Chambers down, and knows the system pretty darn good will loose this starting job to Brees.

I know some of you do not want to see Frerotte under center, but it will take Brees more time to have success in this sytem, if we want to win now, Frerotte will be the best option to start the season.

Edited Post because of misunderstandings and unnecessary name callings..

I know Brees is better than Frerotte but he will struggle early on which is normal...

My post was about winning now...Superbowl 2007--We have home field advantage...

If Frerotte can win us the 1st six games while Brees gets confortable, I wouldn't mind that at all...

This has to stop that everytime someone disagrees with a poster, that poster is automatically an idiot or doesn't know football...Everyone has the right to express his or her opinions on this board, and this is my opinion that Frerotte gives us the best chance to win at the beginning of the season.

LMFAO!!!! Are you kidding me??? As soon as Drew Brees signs his name on the dotted line, he will automatically move up to the number one spot. Frerotte's great "timing" with the receivers didn't help his dismal season. People give too much credence to "the system" and "rhythm" etc. Brees will be the man immediately. Gus will be carrying his jock strap and a clip board.

Gus starting over Brees......oh that's good.......this post made my day...

Makes a certain amount of sense.

But Frerotte may not be around, depending on who has to go in order to sign free agents, or if he doesn't want to renogotiate his contract.

Knowing what I know about Brees, he would be pushing guys to throw with at all possible chances. Before practice, after practice. He may be at full strength or close to full strength by the 1st of July. He may be working with any receiver he can. I'm not suggesting that would be enough, but the guy's a work-a-holic.

Besides, will Mularkey be putting a new scheme in anyway? I don't know - you guys know more about that than I do....

The only way that happens is if Brees' injury lingers or he suffers a setback.

What a moronic comment saying that Frerotte will start over Brees. Got to love it.

You boys shouldn't be laughing too much! If you check Brees' injury and expected recovery time, he's not gonne even be ready for ANY of those QB schools or training camps. He'll MAYBE be ready throw again like either right before or during preseason! It's true what Bench Fiedler says. I dont like it, but it's true. If Brees were totally healthy right now, then YES- he'd immediately be the starter.

There's no guarantee that Frerotte will even be here if we sign a legitimate starter. Frerotte is already gonna have to restructure or be cut, and getting someone like Brees will take up a serious amount of Cash I would imagine. I say Get Brees, Cut Frerotte, and resign Rosenfels as Rosenfels is a capable backup and will probably be a cheaper option

When did it become so difficult to learn a system. He may have to learn new terminology, but the system is just what plays are called at what times in the game. Every team calls the same plays.
