After expressing initial concern about the power of the general manager position with the Miami Dolphins, Fritz Pollard Alliance Chairman John Wooten said Thursday night that he was “satisfied” with how the job had been explained to him by a Dolphins spokesman. As a result, Wooten said he would recommend that any minority candidates who were seeking guidance from the alliance take the interview with the Dolphins.

Decided making a new thread would be easier then copying and pasting it in all the existing threads.

Doomsday averted.

No surprise.

Is the FPA still trying to persuade the NFL to implement 15 yard penalty for grown men calling each other names during a game of football?

WOW basically Mr Ross cowed everyone tonight and made us all shut our mouths!! Im loving it!

Well this will put a damper on all the conspiracists and Ross/Philbin haters.

Philbin is a snake.

Also Ross is a snake.

And conspiracy theorists are snakes.

Snakes on a Finheaven.

This back and forth BS is giving me a headache. Time to put up or shutup.

If I wanted to watch a ping pong match I'd move to china.

All for Ross' definitive statement. I am a supporter of more minority candidates getting interviews for GM openings, but I was against the Fritz Pollard Alliance telling potential candidates not to interview. They're grown men. I'm sure when they interviewed, they would ask the right questions and make sure their contracts had the right language.

Glad it's all been cleared up. Now get the best man for the job......period.

I'm not racist, actually, I'm about as far from racist as possible. During my college football career I had three black roommates, and my god mother was black. Having said that, why do we have to have the Rooney Rule and Fritz Pollard associations? There are quite a few minorities in GM/ HC positions.. and successful too.. Jerry Reese, Mike Tomlin, Lovie Smith etc. Why can't a man be judged by his character and his football IQ rather than his skin color? Also, why do you have to interview a minority candidate before making a hire, but the Bucs can hire Lovie without interviewing a non-minority. Big time double standard. I think the Rooney Rule actually sets back minority candidates. Because some teams are just looking to find their minority candidate to get the Rooney Rule out of the way, rather than look at hiring a minority for a GM/HC position.
