Remaining Needs

You can only do so much in one draft, and the emphasis on building up the lines meant that other problem areas — like the offensive skill positions and the defensive secondary — will have to wait until next year. The only moves Miami made to bolster the 28th ranked pass defense were to sign Nathan Jones and to re-sign safety Jeremiah Bell, who is 30 and is coming off a torn Achilles tendon. For all the defensive end picks, there are still question marks in the middle of the line. Parcells takes Jason Ferguson everywhere he goes, but the returns are diminishing with each new stop, and it would have been nice to add a younger player to groom at nose tackle earlier than the seventh round.

They are pretty right about Henne and Quinn. Both of them pretty much would have projected to the same level had they both came out last year.

I think you have the pass defence figure incorrect. It was actually the only bright spot on the season. We were 4th in pass defence and 32 against the run. Makes it easy too see why we worked on improving the front line.

A secondary is only as good as its defensive front's pass rush. Sorry, cliche, but true.

Getting Yeremiah back is bigger than they make it seem.

But agreed, it is difficult to solve every position in one offseason. At NT, however, IMO Randy Starks is gonna get a bunch of snaps there.

excactly. I will find it funny when and IF miami solves the defensive front problem and the secondary becomes a strength.

A lot of people will be scratching their heads saying "huh, how did that happen?"

However some will be saying. "I knew it."

when a quarterback has 20 seconds to throw the ball. He will be an all pro regardless of what his name is.

when a quarterback has less than 5, even montana and marino will look like fiedler.

and that right there is the key to football. Good Luck Matty Ice!

Dream, you're right on the money imo. Last season was totally frustrating to watch the oppositions' QB just stand back in the pocket with all day and pick us apart. That's why long third downs were achieved against our defense. This year I'm really hopeful that a real passrush is happening. Shouldn't have to cover the reciever for more than 9.5 seconds!!!!!!

i understand the Pass D looked bad mostly cause of the lack of pass rush.. And the fact our safetys played at a High School level. BUt I still cant remember how many times i saw WR's make plays over our DB's

thats called "way too much time for a WR to be covered."

they even coined a phrase about it- look it up....

Being Dolphined- the act of completing a pass on a defensive back after 20 seconds have elapsed since the start of the play.

I agree on your last 2 lines, except the Fiedler dis.. That's been the biggest problem for our QB's and their development and giving the other teams QB that much time was a major fatal flaw for us last year.
