Don't know if this helps to get that feature up and running or not but I came across a RSS type NFL scores feeder. Thought it might be of some use. I set it up already to only read NFL scores and not NBA, NHL...and when it doesn't have any scores to show it just displays "No recently recorded sporting events match your display settings."
