Langford, merling, Jason Ferguson, Matt Roth, vonnie holiday, Randy starks! Compared to traylor, Roth, and Wright, and holliday

you forgot jt for last years but yea i think we had no depth or run stopping ends and traylor seemed to only play a few snaps but we got ALOT better.

I agree if this isn't better than last year then I don't get it.
Let's kill some QB's...

more depth and youth should help immensely

You only listed our Dline the front 7 refers to the dline and linebackers.

For our d-line, Ferguson is an upgrade of Traylor.... plus we have more depth.

For a couple plays we got silly last year, with Roth as Nose-Tackle and Joey Porter at DT. I'm sure we won't see that ever again.

These names only matter if the names mentioned actually contribute something positive to the effort in the trenches...Go Phinz!!

We have improved to some degree. We won't know to what extent until the season starts. We definitely have more depth and young players.

I see more unproven this year then I did last year. It doesn't mean we won't be successful. I'm just sayin we're more unproven.

Traylor was a run stopping machine last year when he was actually able to play. I agree with a previous post that Ferguson should be better at the NT position because hopefully he will have the stamina that Traylor did not. Merling and Langford will provide some size, power, and athleticism at the point of attack that we just didn't have last year.

I think we will be much improved at stopping the run and if we can get some pressure off the edges with JT and Porter (and I don't see why we can't) then we should be able to mask our deficiencies in the secondary.

wright should be in there for sure. roth will probably be out. and merling might be an OLB, but that is included in the front seven.

Much improved depth. Much younger. I recall us picking us guys midseason and giving them INSTANT playing time, after a week in the scheme. Derrick Robinson. Anthony Bryant.

I think I just threw up in my mouth.

Same can be said at LB. I like Ed Miles, but he has no business playing on defense. I like the additions of Torbor and Anderson. Plus, I think one of the UDFAs could surprise, either Titus Brown or Poppinga.

Well we were really good up front pre 2007 because we had 7 or 8 good players who could spell each other (Taylor, Holiday, Traylor, Carter for Roth, Wilkinson, D. Bowens, Zgonina) while last year we had 3 or 4 good players and the rest were rookies, unproven players or castoffs. I had never heard of Chase Page prior to 2007 and Steve Fifita was an NFL Europa castoff, Paul Soliai was a rookie who needs to gain strength and Rod Wright was out there after not playing for awhile. Factor in no Zach Thomas, when he was expected to be there, and you have a recipe for disaster for run defense. Even on long passing downs our lack of a pass rush usually yielded an easy pickup for our opponents.

I also think conditioning was a factore last year. I know it was week one but I remember our defensive players reeally sucking wind in the 2nd half/OT of the Skins game. I don't expect that to be an issue in 2008.

The lack of depth on the DL was a HUGE issue that really affected the rest of the team. The first thing Jimmy Johnson did when he arrived was change from the 3/4 and installed the 4/3 defense and went out and got as much depth for the DL as he could find. The Dolphins went almost from last in defense to the top 10 for almost every year after that until last year. Cam/ Muller implied they were not going to mess with the defense and that is exactly what did do by releasing all those DL linemen last year before finding any replacements. If those 2 guys had stuck to their guns and really had left the defense alone they might still be here this year
