Granted it's baseball, but same thing my White Sox did for years and years. Then they finally handed the reins over to Rick Hahn (no Kenny Williams influence) ad blew the thing up and have the top farm system in baseball. That's what the Fins need to do, jmo. Say f it and build.

The question is though, do you trust this Front Office to do said building?

It just seems to me that the Dolphins are blowing it up, but quietly.

It takes a certain talent to overspend and under-perform (consistently!)

As long as Tannenbaum is there this won't change. This is my opinion but Ross is the biggest problem with the issue of the franchise winning on the field. Ross has made strides as an owner in other ways but he needs to show leadership and decide to lead his franchise to rebuild. Unfortunately he probably can't do it because it's difficult to accept losing ... which will happen in the very beginning. If I was Ross I would give complete control to Gase and allow him and Grier to build the team and guarantee both of them the time (5 to 7 years) to build this franchise the right way. Then give Tannenbaum the boot.

No, which is why they need a structural change, or else the purgatory will continue.

I think Ross is more likely to dump Tannenbaum at this stage if we have another bad season than he is Gase, which to me is an encouraging sign...seems like Gase is "his" guy, even though T-Bag and Ross have been thick as thieves for some time now. Gase was Ross' hand-picked coach IIRC, and since Ross is the about the most loyal guy in the world, it would really surprise me if he let Gase go before T-Bag.

Personally, I think if you blew up the FO, leaving Gase as Highlander, I'd bring in Brian Xanders, who really helped craft Denver into the powerhouse they turned into, though Elway gets all the credit because he helped land Manning. A Xanders/Gase pairing would be very nice, IMO.

No offense, but you dont get a trophy for having the top farm system in baseball. Let's see what they do with that farm system.

They could wind up like the Astros, or they could wind up like the Rays...of course, you also have your teams like the Giants with a barren farm system that get a few prospects that come through and inexplicably win it all every few years.

Back to football, sorry to get this off track.

Yeah, but even if he fires Tannebaum, he'll go and find one just like him. The one time we had a GM who had the patience to build through the draft he was like our sixth choice and he got the boot without even getting a fair chance. I agree with matt above that Ross is the biggest problem
