He is not under contract so therefore he is not holding out. He has not committment to the team to be in training camp or to ever play a game for them. People are constantly bashing him for not reporting when it is just as much the teams fault for not getting a deal done as his.

We know it isn't a hold out. But he NEEDS to be in camp. What he is doing certainly isn't endearing him to his teammates and coaches or some fans. It also hurts him alot. With Ricky Williams back and the depth we have at the position, he has a lot of catching up to do.

Players understand it is a business, I don't think they are mad at Brown for not being there. Also, he is a runningback, the easiest postition to pickup. Remeber last year when we traded for Gordon and he was in our lineup the next week.

He isn't doing anything wrong. Blame the team for lowballing his contract offer. Blame the team for not making his contract negotiations more of a priority earlier on. Blame the NFL for the lousy system they have setup for draft picks (considering most of the top 10 still isn't signed)

I honestly can't see how anybody here can blame ronnie outside of thier own personal wants of having him in camp.

he is holding out for more money. you don't have to be under contract to hold out. if you are offered a contract and you don't sign it because you want more money than you are holdin out for more money.

this has to be the most useless thread ever.

Of course it's the teams fault, who can live on a crappy 19 million, I know I sure couldn't, poor Ronnie

Your right blame the team for only offering 18-19million a year

I could care less if he comes to camp. Like I said, we have plenty of depth at the position.
I guarantee you that, although players know this is a business, it still gets under their skin that Ronnie isn't out there working his butt off with them. It's easy to say that the team should have started negotiations earlier. We don't know when they started. But I would venture to say that the negotiations started immediately after Ronnie was drafted.
As for me, I get tired of the greed. I dont care who it is or what team he plays for. What is $3 million when you are talking about the difference between $19 mill and $22 mill? Especially considering that other 3 million will be made up somewhere in the contract. It's BS.

Well, actually it isnt 18-19 mill per year. Ronnie would be an idiot to reject that deal. Its a guaranteed 18-19mill plus whatever base salaries and incentives they agree to....neither of which are guaranteed.

That is not entirely true, just a play on words..he is not signed and therefore hurting his and his team's chances of success. Yes, he is not "holding out", but he is not in camp, therefore it is the SAME thing as holding out...

Then remeber wheh he stunk it up and looked like a back that had been in the lineup for a week?

I don't fault Ronnie for getting everything he can in negotiations, but he can't walk in a week before the season opener and expect to be a feature back in this complicated new offensive system. Aside from carrying the ball, he has to know the passing game, and all his blitz pickups/protections etc...

The kid is not greedy just because he won't sign a contract that is below his slotted value. 3 million dollars is still 3 million dollars, just because he is going to be an instant millionare does not mean he should take whatever he is being offered and be happy with it.
