Gabe Watson for a 2nd?

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3656

The Cards put a 2nd round tender on him. he has the right size and he's only 25. I liked what I saw of him watching the Cards. Do you guy think he would be worth it?

If MIA feels that Watson is better than Ron Brace or any NTs that would be available with our 2nd round pick, then yes. Watson would be worth our #56 pick. Go for it. Unless, Parcells feels that Ron Brace is better than Watson and that there is no way that Ron Brace will no doubt be available.

Watson is the safer way to go.

He's got the size, I read somewhere he's injured alot.

No.

Theres a huge difference, the contracts.

By trading a 2nd for Watson, you need to sign him to a free agent contract.

By drafting Brace in the 2nd, you get him for 4 years under a rookie contract.

Even if Watson is a slightly better player, the cap space created by having Brace's rookie contract vs. Watson's free agent contract makes Brace more appealing.

I dont think its this regimes practice to give up draft picks AND have to sign someone to a contract.

When we traded picks for Fasano and Ayodele and Ferguson, Dallas took the cap hit for trading them, not us, we just accepted their base salaries only.

2nd round picks wont even count for a million against the cap. Gabe Watson's signing bonus alone should count for more than that (if he was signed to a long term deal, which you would if you traded for a RFA because it makes no sense to trade for a player and only have him for 1 year)

Yeah, I think he was in/out with knee injuries last year. While he's more of a proven comodity than a draft pick, he's more of a potential liability with the weight and knee problems. Plus BP and company do not like to give up early draft picks for players. If it was a 4th or 5th rounder, maybe if they had raw potential, but not one of our 2nd rounders. They want more of those, not less. With a fairly deep draft that can net decent players into the 2nd and 3rd rounds without a huge drop-off in talent, I don't think we'll be giving up much with our picks.

He started 16 games in 2007 and 0 games in 2008. It makes me wonder why. They didn't get some beastly DT this season did they? I like his size though and you can never have too many NTs.

At 6'5'' I think Montgomery is a little to tall for a NT...smaller squatters are more ideal imo.

No way would I give up a 2nd round pick for Watson. He's decent but not worth a 2nd. Maybe a 5th.
