How complex is Gailey/Flores system; do you think it is a difficult system for Tau to get under his belt - sooner rather than later - in comparison to the system he was under in college? Thanks.

Its not the exact system to what he ran in college but similar. Both are a RPO (Run, Pass, Option) system. Of course there is different verbiage and I'm not sure how difficult CG's system is. He should be able to pick it up without problems.

Fitting the system to the quarterback. Sounds good to me.

*cough cough* Adam Gase *cough cough*
I hate when coach try run there system..verus run what qb do best..that is what hurting Rosen..no coach trying run system that fit his style...That N.E system fit Tom Brady..

Seeing as out OC was let go last year with the primary justification being his system is too complicated, I think Flores made sure not to make that mistake again. Gailey is also about as experienced as you can get, so I imagine he'll be able to work with young QB's a lot better.

Sometimes when a system is complicated, it's not all on the QB to learn it, it involves the receivers reading plays as well and acting accordingly. From what I understand the Gase system was very heavy on that, which is partially why some of our receivers struggled. The NE system is also immensely receiver dependent....not sure how much of that we carried over, but I imagine its not negligible. Anytime you're requiring both a QB and a receiver to read a play correctly can be a big challenge, but NE has built their system over years of work.

Coaches hate having to predicate/limit their scheme based on the players on the field..even if they perform well.

Is it? What does Rosen do best? I ask because so far we haven't seen it in the NFL. Maybe it's mowing lawns or he's a great amateur Sushi chef....

A system needs to constantly adapt and change to stay ahead of defenses. Look at Bill Lazor, year one he was giving us 8 free yards on first down; but, by year two the offense couldn’t move the ball. Defenses caught up with what he was trying to do and he became completely ineffective as a play caller.

He's got fantastic ball placement and touch. Far better than Tannehill or Henne early in their careers.

Does he? I haven't seen that in a game....if he's so marvelous then why didn't the beat out RF and why did we draft Tua?

My take:

There's a difference between a QBs physical gifts and his mental aspect. Rosen has easily definable physical gifts
as a passer -- fantastic spin on the ball, effortless, no problem with deep outs on a rope etc. The kid just has a
lot of arm talent. Mentally he's struggled with decision making, pre snap / post snap reads, and perhaps less
than ideal "leadership" qualities (all of which can be at least somewhat characterized as "immaturity").

For those who still support the kids development and chance to prove out as a legit PRO, there's hope at 23
he has not maxed out his "maturity" and mental capacity to GROW as a player. If the kid can significantly
develop in the mental dept he certainly has the physical gifts to be an excellent PRO IMO.

I think he's an example of a kid where things came easy and he didn't have to work as hard as he should have.
Now he doesn't have that luxury -- so if ??? he can find the dedication (and fire) to work on his game unrelentingly
day after day -- and NOT get lazy or mentally complacent -- I like his chances.

Like I said before, in a year or 2 he may be unrecognizable as a player! Or...

maybe he's just not up to the task.

There's a video out there of an interview with Chan Gailey. He *specifically* states that he tailors his offenses to the strengths of the players involved.

It gave me the warm and fuzzies.

That's Great! No wonder CG has had so much success in the NFL. I am thankful that he is a part of our organization. He will do a fantastic job, I'm sure of it.
