I have been trying to figure out this organization for 20 years and scratch my head thinking about what a circus this is. I believe Gaine is a lock for this job because it makes ZERO sense what is going on presently. Why is the world would you fire your OC, then fire your GM but hold onto your coach? I think it is determined already that Gaine is the guy because he already made decisions on Philbin. There is no way we will get the best possible GM out there if we have a stipulation on keeping Philbin and heck even Coyle? If we hire an OC before our GM we might be the dumbest organization in all of sports. What good GM is going to want to come in here and be told this is what you have to keep? I don't see that happening. I think Ross already has this thing figured out and we are going through the motions to appease the fans. There is no way Polian or Pioli come to Miami and say "AWESOME! We have Joe Philbin and Kevin Coyle! We also have Zac Taylor the best QB coach in the league!" Better yet, if we hire the OC first then the GM would be stuck with 3 guys he may or may not want. This is a circus.

So Gaine in reality isn't a lock despite all you said, which actually turned out to be more speculation.

GM's come to new teams all the time, with coaches already in place. this is not a new concept. although, Gaines still might be the guy, but i don't think the coaches already in place, will deter anyone from coming, if they really wanted to.

You are right, but the also fail all the time. Miami will be going through a coaching search next year with the GM held over.

Whatever you want to believe.

So it's basically a free pass for the GM. They will just say "hey, the guys that were here aren't working out, let me bring who i want". Although, I think with a new OC, and if the new GM is competent, bring is some good talent, this coaching staff will succeed.

Jeff Darlington has already said Gaine isn't getting the job.

I understand what you are saying but is this the best way to get the best GM out there? Should of Fired Ireland on Black Monday and let the new GM decide EVERYONES fate. I don't think that would of been that hard. If the new GM wants to keep certain coaches then fine. If not, then he could bring in whatever he wanted. Just my thoughts.

The new GM can still decide everyone's fate

of course that's one way of going about it, but honestly, philbin has only been here 2 years. I don't think that's long enough to evaluate whether or not he's a good HC or not. At least from what i've seen so far. If he's lead 2 seasons of 4 wins or less, or if he seems lost on gameday, you might have an arguement. but as it stands now, I think philbin can be a great coach, with the right personel around him, aka, an OC that knows what he's doing. lol

I hope that Gaine is still a senior employee for his alleged player evaluation skills. But why would the owner and Garfinkle, Higgins and Aponte go to the trouble of evaluating and interviewing the best GM prospects if they had already determined that Gaine is the man. Why not simply appoint him - Ireland out and Gaine in? Why? Because he is a known commodity and they have probably determined that they want and can get better. Gamble, Wolf, Highsmith, Marc Ross from the Giants are probably all credible candidates. My bet is that they do not appoint Gaine, they give him a different upgraded role. Wolf's Dad was one of the best GM's of all and there is probably the Green Bay philosophical connection that Philbin would embrace. If Wolf interviews well, he could get a shot. Ron Wolf knew what he was doing when he ran the show and sometimes the acorn doesn't fall too far from the oak tree.

I don't understand the fact that Gaine is looked at as a good talent evaluator. If he's so good....What happened to our last 5 drafts? Is Gaine not involved in the grading process? Did Ireland totally disregard his counsel? Was Gaine standing on a chair telling everyone we shouldn't draft Martin or Egnew? Until those facts are known, I consider Gaine a continuation of the Parcels/Ireland regime.
