Can anyone show me the Jets glaring weakness?

Here's a hint. 511 TOTAL YARDS

And the NY media is already awarding the Jets the SB trophy. :rolleyes2:

Ya Cassell had one hell of a game threw for 400 yards and ran for 60

most of his passing yards came from running backs and tight ends

except one long screen pass to aiken (sp)

He is a FA next year . if matt shaub can get 8 million a yr with 1 start and a few backup apperence can you imagine what he will get ?.

i hope favre does not retire or else i will be not be suprised a bit if he ends up in Jets land.

from what i've seen in the games he's played in i wouldn't mind .

We also have some decent young QB that i would like to see with the first team .

Clemens didn't have an O line or any weapons last year and still went 3-5 should have been 4-4 atleast if wasn't for bad reciever play

Ratliff looked really good in the preseason but it is what it is preseason.

and who knows about Ainge

The Jets play a bend but not break defense. But they gave up some Red zone TDs today. That catch and throw to Randy Moss was completely lucky, Cassel will never make a throw or have a game like he did today again. Cassel can go where ever he wants, but he is a scrum still. Someone will pay him and he will be bad, the Pats system makes average Qbs look good.

+1

Cassel will not be a Jet!!

I think it's safe to say that Jet fans know what this team's weakness is. It's TEs and RBs outta the backfield running slants and other intermediate routes. Most LBs are not great in coverage, but we are having especially bad problems in this area.

The first half of last night's game, our defense was very good. Second half, our coaching staff was too conservative. We are one of the best teams in the league at sacking the QB. We need to keep up the pressure for most of the game or we will make the Matt Cassels of this league look like pro bowlers.

That being said, what a difference from last year when we couldn't stop anything.

Well at this time he has been saying he is incredibly thankful to the Pats and Bob Kraft for taking a chance on him to start with. He told PFW that he would be more than willing to resign with the Patriots for decent backup money.

Thread officially Jacked

Indeed they did. Not to mention FIVE football fields worth of yardage. That's an awfully large amount of bending IMO. Even when they put a 50+ spot up on the Cardinals, they still gave up 35 points to them. That's even more than the Cardinals scored on the Dolphins.

Do you see how silly your logic can be construed? :m359:

What? ... Why? :ponder:

Opinion noted. However, my crystal ball doesn't seem to work as well as yours does.

Certainly you're not saying that Brady is an "average" QB, are you? :rolleyes2:
By the way.... What's a 'scrum'? Scrub perhaps?

In an attempt to steer the thread back on track, my original intentions were to illustrate an obvious and glaring weakness in the Jets defense. This is EXACTLY the type of defense that goes nowhere if they are to be fourtunate enough to earn a playoff berth.

Care to comment now?

I think Brett Favre turning the ball over should be a concern. The Jets are good team. They've beaten everybody in the division on the road. Some people think stats are the end all but they won. Is losing giving up 200 yards better than winning and giving up 500?

They still lost to the Raiders so we'll see. The division race will be close. SNY is all over the Jets jock.

If anybody does happen to see Ray Lucas on tv. He's worse at analyzing football than he was at Qb. Really quite an accomplishment.

No but he does lead the league in interceptions. He's still a good player but he's always thrown alot of picks. So it's nothing new. I think he's probably what most Jets fans expected him to be. Makes some plays that make you cringe but makes plays that gets Madden hot and bothered.

You say that this thread has been jacked. How has it been jacked if we are talking about the Jets' passing D?

And now that you have published your brilliant analysis of the "glaring weakness of the Jets," did you get the reaction you were looking for? What exactly is your point?

Oh, never mind, I just saw that you are the "smackmaster."

LOL.....carry on

You got to realize that the Jets give up most of their yards in their "prevent" defense they play. We were up big against the Pats 24-6, we were up big against the Cardinals 35-0. The Jets need to know how to put teams away, thats their problem.
And if you think Cassel is a stud you are mistaken, because the guy can't hit a 20+ yard pass for his life, at least Brady can throw downfield. Cassel can only throw dump offs, like 5 yard pass to Welker or the 7 yard out route, or just a simple screen. Like that one guy getting 43 yards off of a screen pass to make Cassel look better.
That throw was lucky by Cassel, he will never make that throw again. He is not a stud QB, whoever goes after him will be idiotic, hes a back up QB in the NFL. I wouldn't want that guy as a starter. I see more out of the Jets backups as future starters as they can actually throw a pass more than 20 yards. Trust me I can spot a 1 year wonder miles away, I remember saying Derek Anderson was a fraud last year and this year he is doing nothing and was benched.

SNY is a Jets network...... Sorry for that but trying to act like a New York Network won't talk about a NY team is stupid.

But anyways if Favre plays like he did against the Pats, then we will be fine. He played like he was with the Packers last year, throwing short slants and giving his WRs a chance to make plays. He was very efficient, and that last drive for the FG to win the game was beautiful.
By the way he is loving our stud rookie TE Dustin Keller, hes going to be a big time TE in the NFL. The guy is like a big WR out there.

I've made them quite clear. What you have done is dimissed them or respond to some with myopic opinions.
It's okay though. Typical 'blinded by the city lights" mentality. Living in the area, I've become accustom to it.

You got to realize that the Jets give up most of their yards in their "prevent" defense they play. We were up big against the Pats 24-6, we were up big against the Cardinals 35-0. The Jets need to know how to put teams away, thats their problem.
So using this analogy makes you feel better? ... LOL WGAF? I mean really. Not just their pass defense, their overall defense sucks! In this game, the Jets didn't stop anything the Patriots were doing. The Patriots shot themselves in the foot time after time. At 24-6 Belichick appeared to panic. With plenty of time in the first half, New England elected to go for it on 4th downs in Jets territory and failed when he could have attemped field goals TWICE! That might have cut the deficit form 24-6 to 24-12 going into the locker room.

Twice more in the 3rd quarter, the Patriots stopped themselves with stupid mistakes (phantom fumble and the bad snap) but still managed to climb closer while the Jets OFFENSE; not their defense, did nothing. The Jets were very opportunistic. I'll give you that much.
By the way, I love that phantom sack of Farve. Seemed to be an invisble entity on the field all night for this one. LOL

And if you think Cassel is a stud you are mistaken, because the guy can't hit a 20+ yard pass for his life,
I've said nothing of the kind. As a matter of fact, I never even mentioned Cassel's name. All I've been doing in trashing the Jets defense and outting your myopic points of view.

at least Brady can throw downfield. Cassel can only throw dump offs, like 5 yard pass to Welker or the 7 yard out route, or just a simple screen. Like that one guy getting 43 yards off of a screen pass to make Cassel look better.
Then I guess you where in the bathroom when Cassel over threw that bomb to Moss, right?

That throw was lucky by Cassel, he will never make that throw again. He is not a stud QB, whoever goes after him will be idiotic, hes a back up QB in the NFL. I wouldn't want that guy as a starter. Trust you?... :sidelol:
Again.... WGAF! ... The topic remains the Jets crappy defense. I look foward to seeing it being exposed more and more as the season progresses...
