The Oracle
It seems like our OC has come up with a new gameplan, and since it worked against the Jets, it might work against the Broncos.
We are going to have to do this without using the clever psychological tricks that B Marshall employed on Revis. I mean, Revis knew for two weeks that we were going to come at him all game. We threw 14 times to him and that is more passes thrown at him then in his first five games combined.
What would you do if you wanted to throw games? In baseball you would want to give their home run hitter a hittable ball or two. In football, you can for instance, throw a LOT of passes since the chances of a bad mistake are greater in passing then in running the ball. And face it, unless you have a really good QB, you should not pass that much in the NFL. Or College..or High School etc. The key to giving away games is giving away the ball. If you want to lose, turn the ball over more then the teams you are playing.
So, here is the simply brilliant idea. Throw the ball a lot, at least 10-15 times at your WR that is being covered by their best(important) defensive back. If you simply do the math, Revis is going to pick off a certain amount of passes thrown his way depending on how good the QB is. Tom Brady only threw at him a couple of times. What if Wes Welker said two weeks before their next game that he was going to catch 10 passes on Revis. Even with Tom Brady how well do you think that would go?
So, back to the Broncos. It is being said that Sparano is fired if we lose THIS game. And the damn Broncos just traded away a WR for a future draft pick. Hopefully it means nothing to their offense and they are clicking.
Now, the Broncos do have Champ Bailey. So, if we want to lose this game, we throw at him 12-15 times.
Running "too much" is not what we are looking for. That would give us too many first downs and tire their defense while not allowing us to make as many mistakes.
I think the most important is to always, always, throw the ball to "attempt" to score inside the other team's five yard line. If you call running plays here to Thomas he might just run it in. And we are not looking to score touchdowns, this is where FGs look good but you lose because the other team is scoring touchdowns.
