Gary Hoping the Glove Fits in Miami

How many shooting point guards do the Heat need? There's Wade, J Dub (who needs to go), & Payton. The Heat added some names (Walker & J Dub) but I don't know if the Heat will be any better because they aren't the consumate "team" players. Neither really fits the team.

C-Shaq/Mourning
PF-Haslem/Simien
SF-Walker
2G-Posey
PG-Wade/J Dub/Payton

or is it

C-Shaq/Mourning
PF-Haslem/Simien
SF-Walker/Posey
2G-Wade
PG-J Dub/Payton

Looks very good on paper but I have my doubts. Too bad they didn't land Finley & shipped out J Dub.

payton? he seems to have an attitude...

does the heat really need em'?

I'm leery. But I don't know what else is out there defensively.

I don't see Wade starting at PG. Not with Williams and Payton on the roster. The Heat got Williams because they wanted a true PG type who can distribute the ball.

I think Miami made way too many moves they did not have to make, on paper the names look better but I'm not sure it will translate to the court. Remember a sulking GP helped keep LA back from winning it all 2 years ago and that team was much more talented the any of the past 3 NBA Champions.

close...lineup is:

C-Shaq/Zo/Doleac
PF-Haslem/Walker/Simien
SF-Posey/Anderson
SG-Wade/one of- Wright/Walsh/Emmitt/vet FA is none of those shine
PG-JWill/Payton

This was a good move, he was the best PG available, and they got him for the minimum. We desperately needed a PG that could D up on guys like Billups, and this move just about solidifies our lineup IMO.

I disagree. Payton was a horrible fit in the Triangle offense that Phil Jackson so famously ran during that Laker dynasty. Last year in Boston, Payton was a class act and really helped out the kids on the team. He's a true professional in every sense of the world. As a big Celtics fan, I have nothing but respect for that guy and what he did last season.

His production last year for the Celtics should have put to rest that myth that he has nothing left. He's not the old Gary Payton and he may have lost a step, but the man can definitely still play.

Go Celts..

Haha, after he said he would never play on the East Coast he became a fan favorite in Boston and signed in Miami.

He's shot as a player.

Nothing left. Bad signing.

one of my all-time favorite players - hope he delivers the goods - i've always wanted to see gary payton in a heat jersey... ;)
