Gase is the new Head Coach Reaction thread

Riveting

Do you have any actual reasons? Not that I'm a huge fan of his or anything but it seems everyone either hates the idea of him or loves it

Terrible comparison.

Gase will have success as a coach.

Is he a fit here? Good debate. However, you are comparing chicken salad and chicken crap.

Do they have any comparisons beyond being coordinators? I've seen a few posts now claiming he is another Philbin yet I haven't seen any actual reasons why.

He supposedly plays guys to their strengths, so that already makes him not a Philbin or a Lazor.

Problem is, is he ready for Miami's general apathy and roller-coaster locker room?

Not my first choice, but the Joe Philbin comparison is very bad for a lot of reasons that I've stated until I'm blue in the face.

This guy is worth taking a chance on as a head coach, and I won't be upset if we do. If anything, I'm upset that we aren't looking at another coordinator with no head coaching experience, Sean McDermott of the Panthers. I really wish we'd bring him in for an interview.

What makes you have any idea he will be a good head coach? It baffles me how people never get it. Gase has been coaching 16 years as either a grad assistant, position coach or coordinator. He has never been a head coach of anything in his life. 90% of these awesome coordinators never amount to jack crap as a head coach? Why.

Because you need the X factor. You need leadership. You need savvy and ridiculous moxie. You need to be able to get 53 guys who make more than you to collectively run through a wall for you. You need so much more than you need as a coordinator.

I am sick and tired of this garbage with Miami. We haven't had a semblance of a real head coach since JJ. The vitriol on this board against JJ is dumb and I will tell you that guy is a head coach. We haven't had one since.

This dysfunctional front office led now by egomaniac Tannenbaum will need to settle for a guy like Gase because a Gase will know his place. And 3 years down this rabbit hole we will start again.

This team needs leadership. Coughlin or Shanahan. Guys that know how to turn this trainwreck around. A guy who can set the tone and command respect against our division rivals. But no. That would threaten Tannenbaum.

Guys debate this crap all you want but we've seen this movie before. It is insane why we keep doing the same thing expecting different results. Just stop it Ross. Get a goddamm clue for once.

It's a much better comparison with McCoy. That face though...

Every coach was a coordinator beforehand.

Some of the great had little experience before becoming HC. It's not a requirement to be a HC before becoming a NFL HC.

Bullish expectations for coordinators happens every year. Every year the majority of that optimism ultimately ends in failure. The leap from coordinator to HC is one that only a small minority successfully pull off. This is a yearly tradition of nonsense.

You're question is one I feel like the organization is failing to consider if they are so infatuated with Gase. For a guy who's not been a HC at any level, a new GM, and Mike Tannebaum, is he really the guy? It does kind of feel like the Philbin situation. I'm a fan of changing it up completely if it didn't work before and hiring coaches with little to no NFL Head Coaching experience hasn't worked in the past.
