Gase needs to trade or cut these three defensive starters ASAP.

Grimes, Vernon and Shepard. Grimes sucks at covering any tall fast WR'S and is always chasing them out of position. Vernon is too expensive and always has horrible penalties when the game is on the line. Shepherd is never in the right spot to make a tackle and is and lousy tackler 90% of the time. It is time to make this defense a lot better.:crazy: what do you guys think?

I think you should watch tape on Grimes again. He's had very few bad games. Did you not see him jump in front of Calvin J last year? Vernon is fine too. Shep can go
 
Grimes sucks. Jordyn Nelson , Brandon Marshall, and Watkins they all own him. Yes he makes great plays on balls but most of the time gets beat and has to tecover.aybe you should watch the tape again.

It's not Gase's responsibility to cut or trade anyone, it's Griers. But agreed, they do need to be dealt with. Grimes needs his salary reduced no more than 3-4m and demoted to the #2 spot (we need a real #1 back there) and Whore wife leashed, Vernon is going to be a FA and Sheppard can hit the road. Also make it 4 and add Misi. His time is up!

Yes Grimes got the pick on CJ but CJ still ended up owning Grimes as CJ went off for over 100 yards and a TD. This past year Grimes got owned by the bigger receivers, that's no secret. His play began diminishing in 2014 and it's time to begin looking for his replacement either via draft or FA.

Not for nothing Vernon and Sheppard are free agents, so you can't really trade them.

Sheppard is gone, they will bring in another ILB and there are many young backups on the roster already.

In case you didn't realize it (and many fans don't so no worries) OV rated out as the top DE in the NFL last year. The first part of the year he struggled as he was battling an injury. Once he got healthy he was the most disruptive DE in the NFL last year when it come to rushing the passer. He is not good at setting the edge, but last year he was one of the best in the game if not the best at getting to the QB. He is going nowhere. If they can't resign him they will tag him.

Grimes played well at times and bad at times. I would like to see them restructure and move him to the #2 corner. Draft or sign another corner that can come in and play the #1 spot. Grimes can still play, just not at $9m anymore.
 
The defense definitely needs to be rebuilt. I can make a strong case that there needs to be major upgrades to six out of the eleven starters. I would cut Grimes, and possibly Misi. Sheppard, Taylor, Aikens, and Earl Mitchell all should be cut. If Vernon leaves via free agency, then defensive end also becomes a pressing need. I already believe it has to be addressed anyway because of Wake's injury and age. This defense has major issues with very few in house replacements and options.
