That statement made by many Dolphins fans is 100% Grade A bull****.

The only thing they have in common is that they are both former NFCN OCs and that is it.

I dont know if he will suck or if he will kick ass, but to say that he is just another Philbin is moronic.

Let's see, he's some genius because he was the OC when Peyton Manning ran up and down the field on teams. Ok then. Just had foolish hopes they would do something serious this time around and get someone with some real experience.

Like who? Marrone? Jackson? Who has an 8-8 record in his one year, and man if thats the standard you want set.....

Wow we have some truly great posters in here...they have little to no experienced knowledge of Gases ability, probably never heard of him a month ago and don't even need to see the guy perform and know he's a failure.......Use your insight and buy a lottery ticket....

Damn people give the guy a chance then grip if the decision is bad

extremely moronic

You really need a thread about a lazy comparison and obscure opinion held by a few posters?

People are just concerned that it's another coordinator, no HC experience, hire. I think most rational fans would agree the Gase hire smells a lot better than Philbin lol

Gase is better qualified than Failbin.
He graduated from Michigan

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt right now, didn't really know the guy until I heard they were interested in him as HC. I hope he surprises and becomes the coach we all dreamed of.

It's pretty obvious this "Philbin 2.0" you referenced is about results, not background. IMO The difference of opinion right now comes from either Optimism or Pessimism, that's it. No one's opinion is any more bull**** than the next, no matter how you decide to phrase it or grade it. The truth is nobody knows how the Gase higher will turn out. I don't think anyone assuming Gase will do any better than Philbin is any more moronic at this point than anyone assuming he will.

For the Record:
"2.0
adjective
used to denote a superior or more advanced version of an original concept, product, service, etc."

I just hope that Gase wants a tough physical o-line that won't be pushed around by the rest of the division and that he realizes the importance of a strong running game... unlike Philbin. However, if he runs an offense similar to Philbin and Lazor and likes throwing the ball 3 yards BEHIND the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 9 then I'll be looking forward to the next HC. The decision by Ross to hire Philbin has wasted 4 years, and I hope that this decision doesn't have the same result.

If you are going to try and be sarcastic at least get the facts right. Gase went to Michigan State. Now your sarcasm falls flat and doesn't make sense.

It feels a lot like someone coming to the conclusion that they had a good day because they wore their red tie and someone paid for their coffee, now they think that wearing the red tie equals good things will happen, and they may, but it isn't because of the red tie. Just because people have similar backgrounds, doesn't mean they will give you the same results...and even their backgrounds are not that similar.

The vast majority of us haven't followed the Broncos or bears too closely the past few years. That being said, none of us know what Gase will bring to the table beyond what we have read. I recall Aaron Rodgers, Mike McCarthy and the rest of the GB organization singing praises for Joe Philbin after he was hired as our HC. I believe any franchise would say wonderful things about a former colleague and wish them the best after they received a promotion. The Gase hire may work or it may not. However, I do see a young coach that has only been a coordinator for 3 seasons and two of those seasons he was coaching Peyton Manning, who basically runs the offense himself. Last year, Gase coached Jay Cutler, and while Cutler's numbers improved, Chicago's offense still wasn't in the top half of the league. I honestly don't understand why Gase was so sought after. While I'm sure he's a bright young and up and coming coach, he hasn't accomplished much in this league imho. There wasn't a clear choice in this coaching search, but if we were going to go with an inexperienced coach, I would have given Campbell another year and if it didn't work out, we can see who's available next year. I hope I'm wrong

As bad as coaching has been we all know biggest issue with Dolphins has been the player personnel department. Be it drafting or free agency for the most part Dolphins have been utterly abysmal.

Gase may be a great coach but if Dolphins front office does not improve drastically in the draft and free agency all this whining about the head coach is mute.

Agreed. I'm still under the impression that Philbin had a playoff caliber team and mismanaged the **** out of it. The team was a clear reflection of his gutless, spineless persona. Mismanaged timeouts, conservative scheme (which by the way, should involve running the ****ing ball which he did very little of), didn't address multiple positions (specifically LB's), and a myriad of other atrocities.

The thing I like most about the Gase hiring, completely transparent. We already know he's in "full control" of the roster and will be calling plays. At least we know where to take our torches and pitch forks when the offense is throwing a 3 yard out on 3rd and 12.

Also the word is moot. Not mute.
