Gase makes clear goal is to go "1-0" this week. Seems disinclined to rest starters with chance to move to 5th seed.

"It is more about our players and the fight that they've shown," Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. "Focus on that one week. Basic and simple."

Byron Maxwell felt better at the end of last week. We'll see for this week. #Dolphins

Joe Schad ‏@schadjoe 2m2 minutes ago
On Kenyan Drake: He kicked it into another gear down the sideline. When he spun around Gase had a few choice words.

No open displays of happiness or contentment from Gase, which is no surprise. Keeping one week at time approach.

"I don't think there was a high-five" with the wife, Adam Gase says. He was home when the playoff bid happened last night.

"I'm happy for ours guys. Our guys worked hard to put themselves at this point, having an opportunity to keep competing," Gase said.

Adam Gase says "THIS" is what we expected. Wow. He seems serious too.

It actually surprises the reporters that he says this? How do you think he got a different attitude with this team?

"This is kinda what we expected. That's how you think as a coach. You don't think you're going to have a subpar year," Adam Gase said.

Bingo

I believe Adam Gase when he says he expected this, meaning playoffs. He changed the mindset here and part of that is raising bar on goals.

Yes Joe-exactly.

Does he feel different? “I feel the same as I did last time up here.”

• With a chance to move to the fifth seed, it doesn’t sound like Miami is inclined to rest starters Sunday against New England.

“We need to do everything to make sure we are 1-0 at the end of this week. I talked to [owner Stephen] Ross last night and Mike [Tannenbaum] and Chris [Grier]. We were talking about our plan going forward this week. We have an opportunity to play after Week 17 but our main focus is this week. We are going to stick to plan and not look ahead. This is a team if you look past them, they will embarrass you.”

• Gase had no update on Isa Abdul Quddus, who left Saturday’s game with a sling on his arm. “I’m still waiting for MRI results,” he said.

Gase isn’t sure if Byron Maxwell will play this week. “I know Bryon Maxwell felt better towards the end of the week but we didn’t want to hurt our chances of him to possibly play this week.”

He said Jay Ajayi is fine. “A little banged up.”

• Gase suggested the Dolphins, who are 6-1 at home, have a true homefield advantage. “The volume our stadium has been generating has been outstanding. There’s been a different juice for us on the sideline when we’re at home. Players feed off of it, especially when our defense is on the field.”

If Gase intends to play Moore the ENTIRE game against the Patriots, there can only be one conclusion to draw: Tannehill will be ready to go the following week.

You've got to love Gase and his ability to keep this team focused.

That said, I don't think we'll see a heavy workload from Ajayi this week. I'd be very surprised if he had more than 15 carries. I expect to see a lot of Williams and Drake in the running game.

He gets it.

He understands that if he rests starters or decides to 'take it easy' this week, the Patriots are going to humiliate us in our last home game of the season, and he understands why that can't happen.

Very perceptive statement there and I'm not sure some other coaches would "get that". Still expecting a really tough game that could turn bad but heck how many times have we said that along the way the last 10 games.

Branden Albert says it's not his call if he should rest. He'll prepare to play for Miami Dolphins.

Branden Albert said the different between the 1-4 Dolphins & the team that just went 9-1 is "we found our identity on offense and defense."

Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 2m2 minutes ago
"It isn't over yet. We have a lot of opportunities to do a lot of great things," Branden Albert said of Miami's upcoming postseason run.

Feels great to know we have a coach that understands football and what it takes to win in today's league.

Agree. It seems Gase goal is to go 1-0 every week. Great strategy to focus on whats next.

If Ajayi goes off on the squealers again I fully expect to see Tomlin "conveniently forget" where the sideline ends and field begins again.
