Gase says the team has leaders

Lets hope it finally shows on the field this year. Good to hear though coming from Gase.

I understand that Super Mario is a vet, but I find it concerning that Suh (who has been with the team now for over a year) isn't viewed as a leader, but Mario Williams (a miami newcomer) is.

Understandable, but some guys just aren't leaders. That's not a slam, just a difference in people.

Suh has never been the leader typa and he doesn't need to be. I know we expect our best players to be the leaders and it does help when they are, but sometimes the best leader is the guy who out works everyone who who just has that natural ability to make people want to play harder.

And this . . . " if you let their personalities come out, you’re going to see more guys take that leadership role."

“The first thing that I learned is there’s more [leadership] than I think a lot of people gave guys credit for,” Gase said last week. “I think a little bit of it is, if you let their personalities come out, you’re going to see more guys take that leadership role. I think we’ve had a lot of guys step up, and if somebody gets out of line, they get straightened up pretty quick. It’s something that not a lot of things have gotten back to me, which is great.”

Based on these comments from Gase it looks like Philbin had such a leash on how the players acted/thought they couldn't even act as themselves. No wonder he had such a problem relating to the players. Which makes one begin to wonder, if Philbin was so controlling how the hell did he not know about Cogs and Martin? All this truly tells me is he really didn't have control over the locker room/player mentalities at all, he just thought he did. Kind of what we all have expected.

One thing is for sure, its great to have a new coach that realizes relationships, competitiveness, and game planning for each opponent weekly to take advantage of mismatches are the keys to a successful team.

while his record doesn't suggest it, I believe Philbin was the worst coach in team history.

Yeah interesting that he was not mentioned. Although we know about some of the leadership type stuff he's done - For instance taking Phillips under his wing to go work out west out his rookie year, and hell, the supposed speech last year. I still get the impression guys look up to him, even if other guys are singled out more which is fine.

Tannehill is the leader of the team.

As he should be

In Philbins defense, Vice Principals do not know everything that goes on in their schools. /s

Maybe just maybe, the whole Incog/Martin thing was par for the course. If something were really out of whack; don't you think HBO would have run with it when they did Hard Knocks in Joe's 1st season??

p.s. More & more, it appears Joe was a micro-manager with tunnel vision.

He had the worst leadership mind for sure. It showed from the day he hired his former boss and followed his suggestions IMO.
