Looking forward to Gator getting some quality playing time. Hopefully he can step it up this week, may have to fill in for Sims longer as his injury may be a little more serious than I thought.

After making the Dolphins’ 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie free agent and catching a pass in his NFL debut, tight end Gator Hoskins has been inactive for each of the past three games.

That could change this week, however, with backup tight end Dion Sims not practicing Wednesday or Thursday because of a toe injury that had him in a walking boot in the portion of practice open to the media both days.

“I’m very excited to maybe even have the opportunity to go out there and play, but I’m always staying prepared and ready,” Hoskins said. “You never know when your number is going to get called.”

Hoskins, whose 10 touchdown catches last season led all FBS tight ends, was active for the first four games before the Dolphins went with two tight ends against Green Bay, Chicago and Jacksonville.

Head Coach Joe Philbin says he’s liked Hoskins’ progress.

“One thing about Gator, he’s a smart football player,” Philbin said. “He picks things up well. He caught on to our system real quickly when he first got here. He’s a guy that we can line up in a bunch of different spots. He’s done a good job and he played his most extensive action in the Oakland game, if I’m not mistaken. We saw some good things from him.”

I think Gator is gonna be a good one, maybe not this year but sometime in the near future the league will be wondering how he slipped through.

Gonna miss Sims blocking. He was starting to emerge a bit. Sucks he's out.

Hoskins could be OK, but it'd be nice to have a big, rangy TE than seemingly every other team has but us.

Look for Gator in the Red Zone tommorow. The guy was a TD machine in college.

He's one of those players that doesn't measure well, but just makes plays. I can use a lot of those guys. I don't remember who said "I don't want the 11 most talented players, I want the 11 players who hate to lose the most" (or some sort of iteration of this). Heart and the "knack" go a long way.

I'm curious to see what Gator can bring to the table for us.

I am expecting a huge day from Clator (Clay-Gator)

Maybe he will provide that spark we so need on O. I will be rooting for him but to win this someone is going to have to have a huge game, it might as well be Gator , Hartline, or Wallace.

I see Miller and Landry getting it done BIG TIME tommorow. The Chargers have a porous Run-D and lack necessary depth in the secondary to lock down our talented rookie.

Hopefully he can fill in admirably for Sims. Not having Sims tomorrow is a big loss.

Let’s go Gator! The ball is just a bit behind you Bro.

I agree. Kinda surprised he hasn't been used more to this point. Reminds me of a young Dallas Clark.

Yeah and they are totally different types of players. Although Gator has been a better blocker than I thought he would be coming out of college.

I'd use this Kid in flex packages gonna be hard though to have him and clay both on the field unless ones in the backfield but more than anything I would not call plays that ask this kid to buy the qb time to let plays develop in the passing game predicated on his pass protection in solo scenarios

Gator Hoskins flashes some talent, time will tell if the kid is special, solid or sh&it.
