After trading a second-round pick to acquire Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals, this season in Miami should be about one thing only — finding out if Josh Rosen is the quarterback of the future.

Right now, Fitzpatrick may look like the guy to give the Dolphins a chance to win more games this season. But the stark reality in Miami is that winning more games this season is not a priority.

If Fitzpatrick — 36 and most definitely not the future of the quarterback position in Miami — gives the Dolphins a shot at winning five games instead of three, what is gained? A couple of more Sundays of muted satisfaction among Dolphins fans. And nothing else.

Couldn’t agree more with this article. Listen if Fitz gave us an even remote chance at the playoffs I’d say let it ride with him. However, he doesn’t give us that. So every snap he takes is a waste. Flores, though, loves the guy so it would take an unfortunate preseason injury or Ross giving him an ultimatum to make this happen in a timely manner. I guess we’re stuck spinning our wheels until Fitz implodes, which is not something to root for, just something that’s a mathematical certainty.

Ryan Fitzpatrick can get us to the playoffs. People dont realize how lucky we got to sign this guy. He is better than Teddy Bridgewater and Tyrod Taylor. People are completely counting this guy out. This guy just got in here and is slinging TD's all over the place.

People forget he is learning at the same time as Rosen. They have been here just this off-season. Fitzpatrick was even out of shape and Rosen still couldn't beat him out.

Fitz has NEVER been to the playoffs, has a career losing record and over a third of the league has given up on him. So ya it’s pretty certain he can’t lead this roster to the playoffs.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. There is no doubt he will be leaps and bounds better than Ryan Osweiler and Ryan Tannehille.

There is a chance he could play a full season at a decent level and has shown he can score TD's consistently. He gives us a chance to win every week if we field a good team. Our oline is the only issue in my opinion.

i would rather have thill17 than Fitz. I am not big fan off none. problems w Flores is if he don't find QB within next 2 yr. he will fail as head coach for dolphins. if u cannot score point you will lose in nfl.

He won’t be leaps and bounds better, more likely he’ll be about the same. The oline is hardly the only problem with this team we have a 5’9” free safety who cannot tackle and is poor in space for one. No true pass rusher, lack of depth at may key positions, no definite number 2 corner, lb issues with coverage, and several more.

I'm sorry, but you are kidding yourself if you think Fitz is going to get you to the playoffs. He might get you a really exciting hot streak early in the season, and he might even land himself a nice contract. But it is only a matter of time, and a handful of games before he crashes. It has happened everywhere he has gone.

But, the good good news is: Fitz is not only a great backup, and team leader, he may be the perfect mentor for Josh Rosen.

The jury is still out on Rosen. The potential that many saw prior the 2018 draft is still there, a crummy season with AZ, notwithstanding. No one could have succeeded behind that pile of bowling balls that was the Cardinal's O-line. That fact that he is still standing, reasonably continent, with that same smirk on his face is a testament to his resilience. Lots of people were very high on Rosen coming out of the draft, and I was not one of them. But, I have been wrong many, many times. If I were a Phins fan (I'm not), I'd want to give him every possible chance to prove himself this season. If he's a scrub, cut him loose.

But, my point is: If you only give him half a season, and even less of training camp, you won't really know what you have. (And, make no mistake: Fitz will not last the entire season!) Rosen could do very well in the last four games of the season, and next year, you could find yourselves with Tannehill v.2.0. Even as a Bills fan, I wouldn't want to have to watch that for two games out of the year!

I just don’t think you can be a head coach and coach the way they are suggesting, and still have your respect of the players..

The competition will decipher who should be the QB, not the 2020 draft, as much as I want that #1 overall pick I cannot expect our new head coach to do anything but coach his azz off and try to win every game with the players he was given by the front office..

Now I do understand and believe that we should have a big picture view of our franchise and not compromise that with some quick fix to win now, that’s where I think some struggle with dealing with, thinking big picture is not an indictment on our integrity as a franchise, the goal imo is not to win one super bowl, it’s to create a dynasty, so if I’m the GM, my head coach needs to keep a big picture view as well and understand that we may equip him with young’s guys that we need to find out about, and, try as hard as possible to collect assets for that very future, so while this philosophy may not constitute the best roster this year as it relates to getting wins, it is just as important to our future, and doesn’t mean there is any lack of integrity in the process of trying to win games..

So my point is, the Gm has to do what he has to do, set the team up for the future, personnel wise, and the coach has to do what he has to do, coach what he’s got, as hard as he can..

I like the statement by Flores today. I think Fitz knows he would be ahead of Rosen at this point in camp, and he won’t get complacent after getting praise from coach. Likewise Rosen should get the message loud and clear that he hasn’t been up to scratch to be the starter, and I’m hoping he’ll ball out come preseason. For better or for worse.

I much prefer these types of mind games from Flores instead of the googly-eyed, bratty self righteousness that Gase gave off every press conference.

Coach Flores can't just give Rosen the start week one if Fitz outperforms him during OTA's, training camp and pre-season because Flores made it clear from day one that this was a QB competition. If it's clear to everybody on the team that Fitz beat out Rosen yet Rosen gets the start anyway what message does that send to the team? Flores needs to go with the guy that's earned the role but the thing is we all know what Fitz is. He might play really well in the first few weeks or so but you can bet on him falling apart half way through the season and then we can put Rosen in and take a look at what he has to offer.

You Play To Win The Game!

I heard Rosen has been 3rd best QB. :shame:

Having said that...preseason games will give us a "real" evaluation
