The NFL’s toughest schedule proved to be just that during the season’s first half. The combined record of the five teams that beat Miami (Atlanta, Indy, San Diego, New Orleans and New England) is 32-8 (.800 winning percentage).

The winning QBs were Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees and Tom Brady, all Pro Bowlers, other than Ryan, the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2008.

The second half of the Dolphins schedule won’t be nearly as daunting, largely because 2008 division champs Tennessee (2-6) and Carolina (3-5) are down. The combined record of Miami’s next eight opponents is 28-37.
Miami still faces Brady and the Patriots and Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers. But that’s it for top teams and top-10 QBs.

Houston (5-4) and Matt Schaub are the next-toughest test, on paper.
Barring a second-half run like 2008, the Dolphins are in too deep a hole to climb back into the playoff race. The season likely boils down to whether Miami can finish with a winning record.

Even if we do get our sealegs and build up some momentum, if you watched MNF last night, we're likely to be stepping in quicksand in game 16.

I'm hoping the Steelers have nothing left to play for when that game rolls around. If the Steelers actually need the win it will be a very tough game for the Phins -even at home.

I'm still hoping we can get on a win streak and play a meaningful game versus the Pats in Miami. It will keep the season interesting for us fans, even if in our hearts we know this team needs more work before it can truly be playoff caliber.

The need for a real #1 WR has NEVER been more obvious.

All this team can hope for is that the steelers have everything locked up by then. Division and locked into the 1 or 2 seed . If they have anything to play for it will be a bloodbath but Miami will most likely be long eliminated by then anyway

Phins can beat the Steelers...

We were beating the Saints and Colts for 3 quarters

Well said man,I just hate when people start praying to the Gods "Oh I hope the Steelers are not playing for nothing so we can beat them with their 3rd stringers",I for one I hope the Steelers need our game as bad as we might need to.If we are really "contenders you want to play Pittsburgh at full force!

I'm a huge Phin fan, but this team really isn't a contender. The Steelers have a legit franchise QB, two very good WRs and depth, a great TE, and playmakers at HB. Their defense is top three.

Unless the Steelers have a bad day all around, the Phins won't be able to do much against them on offense, and struggle to stop them on defense.

I still want to see Miami win the division and make the playoffs -even if we won't get far. If the Steelers playing second stringers helps us get there, then I'm good with that.

Didnt you see Pittsburgh last night? Theres one loss.
ya but if they have things locked up, then they may not play people like polamalu who has been hurt this season, or big ben, the whole game. if we need that win and pitt is like lets say 12-3 before that game i say we win that game, possibly with ease bc pitt wont be playing its starters full time.

I just hope we win the next one...Talking about the Steelers game is far fetched considering we have yet to win 3 in a row.

Yeah thats what you want. Have our best play their scrubs.

...anything that would give us a better chance to win.

it's not like you are getting a fluke automatic win...you still have to win, just ask the 2004 Buffalo Bills:

- started 3-5.
- got rolling on a weak 2nd half that only included 2 teams that would finish over .500 (the Patriots and Steelers)
- went into week 17 needing only to win to make the playoffs, against the 14-1 Steelers who were sitting their starters

LOSS!

So yes, I want that same situation....and I would take pride in a week 17 win over Steelers backups to make the playoffs....knowing that I've seen a team in the same scenario who failed to get it done.

guess what? if we made the playoffs based on beating pittsburghs ''scrubs'' its the same thing as beating them fully. obviously it would be weaker competition but i mean as in qualifying for the playoffs. if we got to the afc championship, or superbowl, or even won it based on the fact that we were able to sneak in beating scrubs the last week of the season, when u look back at it, there wont be an asterisk or anything like that saying we did it unfairly. plenty of teams have gotten in based on playing teams scrubs the last week of the season. examples- jets 2002, titans 07, etc. the list can go on and on.

Hard to get nine wins without even one player able to catch a football.

Which brings me to last night's Steelers-Broncos games. Roethlisberger routinely fires high velocity balls to his receivers that are sometimes a little high and sometimes a little low. His receivers don't seem to have a problem catching the ball because they are NFL caliber receivers.
I bring this up because on some other threads some have claimed that our receivers drop balls because Henne doesn't throw "catchable balls".
To those who make those ridiculous assertions, please watch other NFL games closely to see how an NFL passing games are supposed to look.
