If we stay at 13 and Hargreaves isnt there, I really hope we dont reach for a corner in round one. Too many potential stars at other positions of need.

IMHO it wouldn't be reaching if we took Apple at 13. I think Hargreaves is the better CB now, but Apple has a higher ceiling, and either would be ok in round 1. They should both end up being long term solid starters at the very least.

I think that arguments could be made for Hargeaves, Apple, Alexander, Nkemdiche, Conklin and Ragland- imo Ragland is underestimated as an athlete, can play MLB and SOLB. Maybe Shaq Lawson, but I'd still take Nkemdiche over him as a DE sliding into DT on passing downs, unbelievable talent if he can put it all together, Brady nightmare him and Suh rushing up the middle.

For some reason over the past 4 seasons, the top ranked/drafted CB's have all been outperformed by late round 1 and round 2 corners.

The best corners last year were Marcus Peters at 18 and Ronald Darby at 50.

In 2014, 9 DB's were taken in the first round and only 3 of them have made any sort of positive impression.

In 2013 the best DB's were the 5th and 6th DB's selected at 22 and 25. (Trufant and Rhodes)

It's a very hard position to project to the NFL and historically it seems many teams (like Seattle) believe they can get zone corners later in the draft. It's typically the guy who is projected as a "cover corner" who gets taken high in the first round. I'm not sure if Miami follows this philosophy as they did take on Maxwell's $8.5M contract and he's definitely a zone corner. Maxwell was a 6th round pick, Richard Sherman 5th round and Brandon Browner was undrafted.
