has died of complications from Pancreatic Cancer.
Upshaw, a former 11-time All-Pro offensive lineman, had been fighting the disease and has now succumbed to it, according to recent reports.
Gene Upshaw, 63, was the longest-tenured labor leader in [COLOR=#0000ff! important][FONT=Arial, helvetica, sans-serif][COLOR=#0000ff! important][FONT=Arial, helvetica, sans-serif]sports[/FONT][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR]. He played with the Oakland and [COLOR=#0000ff! important][FONT=Arial, helvetica, sans-serif][COLOR=#0000ff! important][FONT=Arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Los [/FONT][COLOR=#0000ff! important][FONT=Arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Angeles[/FONT][/COLOR][/FONT][/COLOR][/COLOR] Raiders from 1967 until 1981. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and an 11-time All-Pro.
 
I am glad you said it.

I hate to sound cold, but the guy was a terrible rep for the players, and he didn't care about the plight of former players.

I think thats a fair comment. Now Im sure Gene Upshaw was a good person and it most be a very painful time for his family, as that type of cancer is very hard to detect till its too late. But its not long ago that the Players Assc wanted him out.
