Did not see this posted anywhere else. Did anyone else see the Mother's day special for NFL Total Access? Rich Eisen and Terrell Davis interviewed the mothers of some NFL players. Among them the mothers of Vince Young, Alex Smith (SF), Matt and Tim Hasselbeck, DeAngelo Hall and Donovan McNabb.
Georgia Taylor, Jason Taylor's mother was also there. When Rich Eisen asked her to share something about JT that not many know, she said that he had only played football for 1 year in high school. Apparently, he was discovered by one of the local high school football coaches in JT's own back yard. The coach was impressed with his size and athletic skills. The coached asked him what school he went to, and he said he was home schooled.
He was invited to practice with the football team at Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh. His mother granted him permission, but said that at the first sign of trouble, he'd be out. Georgia Taylor also shared that during the first practices and games, JT was so lost that the coaches had to tell him everything he had to do. He did not know how to play football. He had to see in what direction the other players were running to follow them.
I thought it was a good story to share about our MVP and the current Defensive MVP of the NFL.
Go JT, GO PHINS!!
