1. E.Brown OLB
For some strange reason people believe his draft stock is falling if true BP jumps all over the pass rushing freak.
Strengths:
-3rd in the nation with 12.5 sacks and 2nd with 20.5 tackles for loss in 2008
-maybe the best pure pass rusher to come out since Dwight Freeney
-good repertoire of moves, great spin-move back to the inside
-great initial burst off line of scrimmage, closing speed is just as impressive
-generates pressure both around the corner and on inside stunts
-would be a good fit as a Cover 2 defensive end or rush LB in a 3-4

Back-up plan - C.Mathews Jr OLB, M.Johnson OLB, C.Barwin OLB.

2. C.Sintim ILB
Sintim would play ILB for us making plays all over the field and would bring a pass rush from the inside something we haven't had in a long long time. The Al Groh connection will play a large role in this selection.
Strengths:
-great pass rusher, has the size and speed to get around the tackles and the strength to push back running backs
-has the versatility to play OLB in a 3-4 and DE in a 4-3, shows the ability to rush the passer in both a 3 and 2 point stance
-plays with a mean streak, and is always looking to lay out the ball carrier
-good awareness on the field, follows the ball well and takes good pursuit angles to the ball carrier
-solid wrap up tackler, has the strength to take down backs with his arms
-also able to drop back in coverage, a complete linebacker

Back-up plan - J.Gilbert DE, A.Smith CB, DJ.Moore CB.

2. B.Robiskie WR
Had a tonne of catches over twenty yards, he's the most NFL ready of all the WR's in the draft. Extremely smart player that would connect with any QB throwing him the rock.
Strengths:
-has all the tools that you want in a WR
-shows the ability to work the middle or be a deep threat
-uses his body well when going after the ball in the air, and is very aggressive to the ball
-intelligent player, runs good routes and has great hands, has been fairly consistent

Back-up plan - S.Smith CB/FS, D.Robinson G would fill a depth need and really push Smiley and Thomas, R.Brace NT has nice value here, V.Harris CB, ***P.Harvin WR a real outside chance he slides this far due to off field problems but way too talented to pass up here.

3. S.Martin CB/FS
Great size CB with solid cover skills.
Strengths:
-good athlete, runs well
-phsyical and strong, not afraid to hit
-tackles very well
-always around the ball, reads and reacts to plays very well
-hard nosed
-can play cornerback or safety
-has a lot of upside and all the tools to work with

Back-up plan - J.Byrd CB, H.Johnson G, D.Scott NT, S.McKillop ILB.

4. F.Tupou OT
Strengths:
-A solid athlete
-Competitive and aggressive, flashes some passion
-Explodes into his blocks, solid initial pop, maintains good separation
-Good strength, will control most one on one match-ups
-Anchors well, handles the bull rush well
-Sets up in pass protection quickly
-Solid body control, can redirect, mirror and slide well
-Good kick slide
-Good balance
-Good drive blocker, gets good movement in the running game
-Can pull and get to the second level
-Solid position and wall-off blocker
-Can play left tackle in a pinch, but right tackle is where he'll stick

Back-up plan - J.Watkins OT, J.Bell OT, TJ Lang OT, A.Parrish OT.

5. R.Miller NT
Runs under a 5 sec 40, 36 reps at 225, has time on his side to develope under Ferguson.
Strengths:
-strength, both in the weight room and on the field
-plays with a mean streak
-gets leverage and can use his strength against bigger blockers
-good closing speed when chasing someone down on defense
-does not shy away from contact
-his motor is always on full blast
-great character, very coachable, always does what he is asked

6. W.Johnson DE
Great size and strength (47 reps at 225) to add depth at DE, may see some time in run situations as a rookie.

7. D.Johnson CB
Strengths:
-very good size
-good bump and run type of cornerback
-high ceiling, keeps getting better
-good speed and good closing speed, uses long arms to break up passes
-good ball skills, athleticially gifted with good hands and playmaking ability
-great instincts

7. B.Southerland FB
Strengths:
-tough and competitive, really attacks the opposition
-hits with full force, accelerates into his blocks
-can fit through small windows in order to delivery his necessary blocks
-smart, can pick up on pass-blocking assignments
-good hands, will make catches out of the backfield
-decent runner, always moving his feet fighting for extra yards
-showed the versatility to play some TE while injured in 2008

UDFA - D.Carey CB, R.Felix C, R.Quinn TE, P.Fanaika G, K.Ellison S.

Please tell me thats a typo because if not that is amazing!

I would be pretty happy with that. Everette Brown would be a steal...I have a feeling someone will drop down to us that we never expected. I think Rey Maualuga or Clay Matthews, LB's, USC, could also be there. I am sure Parcells will pick the right guy. Then we fill in the pieces with the rest of the draft.

I really like the Roy Miller pick. He went to a high school very close to mine and has a great reputation in our town. I would love if we get Clint and E. Brown but I do think we need to address the CB position a bit sooner. But it would be hard to pass up on the guys you picked. Nice mock.

The word on Everette Brown is that he is an undersized 4-3 pass rusher and WILL NOT be able to transition to OLB in a 3-4.

That is why his stock has has dropped and why the Dolphins will not be interested.

I don't see the fins taking 2 LB's with the first 2 picks, one yes but the other will be a CB, other than that your board looks good. I really like Robisike at the #3 spot, I agree he is the most NFL ready WR out there. Think you will see them go for CB either Butler, maybe Davis if he slides to the 2nd round.

It all depends on value, the FO won't pick a CB because of need they will take the highest rated players on their board knowing they can get a CB later(I doubt many thought we'd take back to back DE's last year).

But I'm sure if Butler or Davis was still on the board at 44 I would think they would be rated higher then Sintim, I just didn't believe they would still be around.

We need to upgrade the pass rush, most people would agree with this statement I'm sure. The pass rush does not only come from the edge, we need someone that can penetrate from the inside. That is the whole premise the 3/4 is based on not knowing where the rush is coming from.

If Rey Rey fell I would imagine he's the pick, I just don't see it especially that NE would probably love to pair him with Mayo.

Not bad at all but I'd prefer Brinkley or McKillop as hidden gems on Day 2 (fingers crossed) to hold down that other ILB position therefore substitution for Clint Sintim. I wasn't thoroughly impressed with him in the Senior Bowl, and that was when he playing OLB.

I hope Demetrius Byrd makes a full recovery because if that were to be the case I'd prefer him over Robiskie if neither Nicks or Britt are selected prior.

Two points that I'm trying to make...

a. Our 25th pick in the 1st, and our 2 second rounders are CRUCIAL to the future. With that being said all three of those picks IMHO should be immediate impact players instead of raw, developmental, or Sexy picks.

b. again I'm not against your draft prediction but I kinda tweaked it into a more I'd hope to be a logical scenario.

Good luck!

After reading this...Hmmm?

"When asked if Brown could play with his hand off the ground, Florida St. headman Bobby Bowden wasn’t necessarily sold."

Now if Bowden isn't sold that Brown can play up...thats not a great endorsement!

It would have to be a complete surprise. I think we trade out of the 1st and still get the player BP wants. Just a feeling.

I'm with you on Brinkley but I think he may sneak into the end of round two or early 3rd at the latest. Sintim is a Al Groh player which we all know BP trusts his people more then anyone else.
