Get off Pennington already

All you people who are saying Pennington is a clown, you should really give this guy a shot. After all, he is 7-1 the last 8 times he started against the Dolphins. With that stat alone im happy he isnt starting for the Jets week one against us. Dont you think that the FO knows what they are doing? I think this is a good (not great) signing because he will mentor Henne and teach him how to become a professional. All of you who say he doesnt have an arm, from the way our o line looks against the rush, hes not going to have much time to throw 50 yards down the field anyway. We WILL be a run first offense until our YOUNG line and YOUNG recievers get use to the game. Pennington will teach Henne not to throw ints, and how to take a bad game and not let it ruin your season. Im all for this, afterall if we signed him, the other 2 QBs couldnt have looked that great.
 
Dude, most of the people who think Pennington is trash are the same people who swore John Beck was a virtual lock to be our starter over the last few months. :rolleyes: I wouldnt put too much stock into their thoughts.

These are the same people who when you try and tell them Beck blows they give you the ole you arent BP so what you say dosent matter, but then they swear BP wouldnt be so dumb as to bring in Pennington and even if he did it would be to backup Beck. Yea right.
 
exactlly this is a great move he is much better than any qb we have on the roster and gives us the best chance to win now i always liked him even though he was a jet a class act and the most accuarte qb in the league.
 
I like having CP to be the target back there. Until the line gels back there whoever they put there is meat.
 
I will admit i was not too happy when i heard he had signed, i thought to myself..."he can't throw more than forty yards, what are they thinking?" but the more i thought about it the more it seemed like a pretty good fit, he is smart & accurate...IMO he is a great fit until henne is ready. Now, i have been pulling for beck this whole time, but he is unproven, i would rather they start beck if he were ready to start, but the team is just so young, it will be a very difficult offense to be a quarterback in, IMO. My first post don't flame
 
Look on the Bright Side, I personally have never liked him, So injury prone its disgusting, I used to say that the best job in the nfl is the backup qb to the jets because your gonna get 7 to 10 starts a season. That being said, i hear that our wide outs are having trouble getting separation, thats good, because pennington couldn't hit them down the field anyway. Now all they have to work on are thier hands and cuts.
 
Come on people sure he is now our QB and we hope he does great for us this year, but if your a real DOLFAN and an honest person when he was the JETS QB you hated him, his weak arm, all the times he beat us, etc.. ... And the main problem/concern I have with him is I believe he has only played a full 16 game season without injury ONCE in his career. As long as the front office still focuses on my FUTURE QB I'm fine with the move.
 
I wasnt happy when i heard about the signing...i was ecstatic. This is truly the perfect fit in a lot of different ways. First of all-I believe that by next year, we will be a 9-7 type team, and Chad will still be here. Second of all-Hes the perfect QB for the offense were going to run this year. An offense that is centered around the run and a lot of short passes. And whos the most accurate passer in the game of all time....Pennington!!. Third of all-Hes a veteran and he can mentor Henne for the QB of the future.

I love this move, And i love our front office.
 
I think it was a pretty good signing. Henne gets to sit for a year learning the ins and outs of the system, and Pennington isn't exactly the worst QB in the world.

Well said. Now, can we please start bashing a guy that deserves to be bashed? That guy is Josh "Chainsaw Charlie" McCown!
 
I think pennington is a great student of the game, he will be able to teach both beck and henne a lot about the game.

I wouldn't stress over the reaction to Pennington. Dolphin fans have hated Chad as the Jets QB for the last 8 years, that hate won't simply go away because he's a Dolphin. Chad will have to earn the love, as would any player we sign that has been such a thorn in our side. Think about this, us Dolphin fans wouldn't hate Chad if he was truly a bad player.We wouldn't waste the energy. Obviously Chad has done some good things as a starting QB in the NFL. Is he the best QB in the NFL? No, but he's done some good things. I will say this, I'm glad it's Pennington and not Carter!!
 
Good post.

I am 100% behind Pennington. I have always liked the guy even though I clowned on him numerous times for his "noodle arm". He has heart and leadership and thats what we need right now.
