Giants | Poston says deal with Arrington close
Fri, 21 Apr 2006 20:46:37 -0700
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/9">ESPN.com's John Clayton reports agent Carl Poston confirmed the New York Giants are close to reaching a contract agreement with free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins). Poston wasn't sure if a deal was going to be completed by Friday night, April 21, but he said negotiations between Arrington and the Giants were close to getting done and should be completed soon. "Antonio Pierce really made a push to get the Giants to bring LaVar to New York," Poston said. "It's a good fit. It would be great to have LaVar in the New York market." Terms of any detail weren't available. The Miami Dolphins had a $5 million a year offer on the table. Arrington was hoping to get a deal in the $7.5 million a year range.

well i guess thats the end of any hopes of getting lavar...he was asking for wayyyyy too much money i just hope that we find a good olb in the draft or pick up one in FA maybe even bring seau back but its still would of been nice to see lavar in a fins uniform

:shakeno: damn lavar I thought you wanted to raise your kids in the nice south florida weather. Still can't believe the only reason he won't sign with Miami cause of 2.5 million dollars.

Come on now guys.. You would be jumping for joy if Lavar chose us. Nobody here would choose a team they had no loyalty to, that was offering less money. Lets wait and see what the Giants are going to pay- because if it is close to Lavar's original asking price, a) they overpaid, but more importantly b) you cannot fault him for taking their deal. They are a very good team.

Really? I'm willing to relocate to New York for about 80,000 extra from what is generally thought to be one of the top three places in the world to live.

For 2.5 Mil, I'd move to Baghdad.

If it ends up just a tad over the 5 mil mark, I figure

he probably didn't wanna deal with the muggy miami heat,

or Saban on his hobbled butt.

er, not that I'd necessarilly consider Coughlin a cupcake coach.
