Going into this year the Miami secondary was in dire need of some new life and we got it this year both in free agency and the draft...I haven't heard much talk of Gibril Wilson lately as somehow he has been overshadowed by our CB prospects Smith and Davis and FA CB Green from Arizona.

I realize that Gibril may play FS instead of SS as he has throughout his career in the NFL but Since 2005 no DB has even close to the amount of tackles this man has...this includes your Bob Sanders', Ed Reeds', and Troy Polamalu's....Plus the man has a Super Bowl Ring

The following rankings are for Defensive Backs tackles

2005:
2nd in the league
112 tackles 3 sacks 2 picks

2006:
8th in the league
100 tackles 0 sacks 2 picks

2007:
9th in the league
92 tackles 0 sacks 4 picks

2008:
1st in the league
129 tackles 1.5 sacks 2 picks

Y. Bell in 08' was 3rd in tackles with 120

Therefore, this year we will have the reigning 1st and 3rd most prolific tackling Defensive Backs in Football...This makes me feel like our Pass Defense will be Vastly improved this year...And thank God because we gotta play Indy and NE (2 times) this year

Gibril is gonna have enormous impact on our defenseGibril

At least he can provide a decent safety net,BUT I do hope that our front 7 won't allow things to get so bad that the DBs would have to make so many tackles.

It's good that they're good at tackling but when you have that many tackles by the DBs it's not usually a good thing.

Usually it's not good when corners have a lot of tackles because it sometimes means that they get beat a lot. To me, though, it's really never a bad thing to have a lot of tackles no matter who you are on defense because it means that you are around the ball and making plays.
On that note, I would like to see someone like either Clemons or Culver develop into more of a ballhawking safety with a nose for interceptions that can come in on passing downs. Bell and Wilson are very similar in their style of play, with Wilson being a little bit better on an island.

your going to need a pro-bowl HB and some extra help to run the ball effectively on us. I only remember McGahee having lot of success against us last year and that's cuz we were without our 2 best NT's.

With Wilson, Bell, Allen, Davis, Smith, and Allen we have the most physical secondary in the NFL.

I'm pretty sure he is still considered one of the top, if not the top, FA acquisition in the entire NFL

Who's saying that?

All I hear ESPN saying is Albert Haynesworth to the Redskins.

And Brett Favre to the Vikings. :rolleyes2:

Last year he was playing SS...this year he will be playing FS...so, it has to be seen if he will contribute that much...I am not convinced that he will be a great upgrade. I do expect him to be "serviceable" though....

Gibril wilson is going to have an amazing year... its going to be tough for him to have 100 tackles along side of bell but its also going to be tough for bell to have 100 tackles along side of wilson.., bell was always around the ball when it went to his side of the field last year, So was wilson. matt ryan wont want to throw any long balls after about 3 passes.. game one

Tackles are the most overrated stat in the game. The tackle stat is a subjective one, you cannot base a players performance based on tackles.

Wow!!! Hard to believe. I can't really think of a more important stat than tackling. Especially from a saftey. I hope your HC thinks the same way as you.
