Does anybody recall or know why he wasn't drafted until the fifth round? And how much did he actually play for the Giants? How did he do at Tennessee?

I watched him live at a few Giant's games. The kid has killer football instincts and is a outstanding tackler. Manyy giant fans were very upset when they let him go to the Raiders. Our safties are set for years to come.....

He started 51 games at both free safety and strong safety for the Giants in the 4 years he was there.

I didnt know he played for Tennessee. I saw him break a pass up from Randy Moss when he was with the Giants. I was very impressed at how physical he was. Him and Bell should make for a solid DB field.

he's an extremely good hitter/tackler..
liability in coverage? dunno yet, but i read a KC Joyner article that said he gave up the 3rd most yards when he was supposed to be helping over the top.
i see our secondary improving, i mean no way he's worse than R. Hill, who was a poor tackler and got beat over the top alot too..

i just hope he's fast enough to play FS, i know he can play SS.
I think our front office did their homework, and saw he played pretty damn well at FS when the giants won the superbowl.

we still should draft a FS in late rounds, like david Bruton, If bell went down again Gibril or Culver could play SS and we'd have a true FS waiting.

i dont know why he said we could be the best in the league.
Maybe one of the scariest if we start blowing up randy Moss.

I'd love to see us do what the Steelers did, and just beat the crap out of Moss and Welker, so when they do get open they are looking for our Safeties to come in a bash them, causing a dropped pass.

He'll do well in your system. He was a monster hitter and was pretty good in coverage. I wouldn't mind seeing him smack Wes around either. And yes, I'm a Bills fan, first post.

Welcome just please dont bash our team anytime or you will be escorted to the graveyard ......but welcome to finheaven Bflo

I cant wait to watch him play.....he could easily take the love for Bell from me cause there the same player but Gibril can cover alot better

His instincts, ability against the run, and ability against the deep ball are ideal for the secondary coverage that the Dolphins plan to play this season.

Forget about the strong/free safety stuff. They're not going to be very relevant in this defense. In this defense, neither safety is going to find himself that often with responsibility to cover the whole deep middle third, or an entire half of the deep field. I'm not saying it won't happen, it just won't happen that often. Much more often, the safeties will be responsible for covering a deep quarter of the field, and each corner will be responsible for a deep quarter of the field as well. This limits range issues, and other issues with deep coverage.

And in return for this luxury of not often having to cover an entire deep middle third, or an entire deep half, both safeties will be expected to take a more proactive role against the run. They will both have the responsibility to take their first short, slow steps reading the run/pass keys to their side of the field, diagnosing the play, and either dropping back into their deep quarter coverage, or running the alley to help against the run. There will be a lot of variation on where they line up pre-snap in order to accomplish this, but their responsibilities will mostly be the same regardless of where they line up.

With this particular secondary coverage in mind, the Dolphins set out to find a safety that could make a lot of plays against the run, but who also has speed to run deep, and most importantly a good head on his shoulders to have his run/pass instincts turn out correct. In other words, they needed another Yeremiah Bell. They needed two Yeremiah Bells. So, they re-signed one Yeremiah Bell and then went out and paid for a second one.

Teams will not find it easy to run on the Dolphins.

Well one thing is for sure, we will have one of the hardest hitting secondaries in the league next year. Bell and Wilson will strike fear into opposing teams WR's all season long. Can you imagine if we were to draft a CB like say, Vontae Davis? :crutch::crutch::crutch::owned1:

I would be ecstatic.

If Miami is going to draft Safety depth, I would look for them to go with a Chip Vaughn, maybe a David Bruton, Brandon Underwood, Sherrod Martin, Jairus Byrd, maybe a Keenan Lewis.

Out of those I like Chip Vaugn and Bruton..in terms of drafting.. the rest of the guys I can see as undrafted free agents...but with a lot of upside..
